Hi everyone,

Usually when I log in, my PC boots to the login screen and I authenticate and then the desktop loads.

However, completely randomly it sometimes logs in automatically.

I have no idea why it does this.

Can anyone help? I want to log in manually.

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?
I would try faking it out to see if it would make a difference.

In search box type netplwiz
In search results select netplwiz run command.
In the User Accounts screen that pops up, there is a box beside Users must enter a username and passworrd. If it is checked, uncheck it, select your user name from the list, select APPLY. It will ask for your password. Click OK.
Restart and it should automatically log you in.
Go back into netplwiz.
This time, check the box, Apply, OK.

That procedure may fix any erroneous registry entries you might have had that caused the computer to login by itself.

Is this happening from a cold start, when bringing the computer out of sleep mode or both? I'm asking because I'm thinking it may have something to do with Fast Startup. I have it turned off on all of my computers. Turn On or Off Fast Startup in Windows 11 Tutorial

Hi. I tried that, didn't work.

At the bottom of the first post in this tutorial, check the "Related Tutorials".

I tried one of the registry hacks. I hope it works!

something to do with Fast Startup

I have that disabled on both my machines.

Windows recognizes your face

I am using a fingerprint sensor, so that does not apply. Thanks though :)

I tried one of the registry hacks. I hope it works!

It's still showing the same behaviour. Does anyone have any ideas?

Cheers

There is no computer problem that cannot be solved by the judicious use of C-4.

Or, just a Clean Install, with a known good ISO of Windows.
I have several of those, and none of them was ever downloaded from MS.

By the way, the "Micro 11" is a really neat version of Win-11.

Cheers Mates!
