Solved PC WiFi slow, but devices are OK

The download speed shown at the router (TalkTalk) is 47 Mbps, my Ipads and Android phone are showing speeds of around 40 Mbps, but my PC is now around 12 Mbps

Thinking that I was doing the right thing I have purchased and installed a tp-link WiFi adapter, (AX1800 or Archer TX20E), and downloaded and installed the latest drivers for it.

I've switched off the onboard WiFi, and switched on the tp-link but it's still around the 12 Mbps mark.

The signal bars have increased from 1 to 3 bars though, so something else is definitely going on.

Now I'm stumped....

Any help would be great, thank you.

Probably not as I definitely haven't installed it, and it's only gone on the go slow in the last couple of days

The onboard WiFi has got a 1 bar signal, and about 20 Mbps, the new tp-link has 3 bars and about 3 Mbps

the new tp-link seems to be working at 2.4Ghz onboard is 5Ghz

The tp-link shows link speed as 144 Mbps, what does this actually mean as it's only getting 3 Mbps in real terms

Well,

The box states the tp-link I bought is an "AX 1800" in great big bold letters, so that's the driver I used from their website.

Looking at the tiny label on the side it states TX20E(UN) V1.0 on the side along with it's S/N number

And now I've searched for the TX20E driver, it's different to the AX1800 driver, and this one connects at 5GHz and the download speed is now back up to 40 plus Mbps.

So thanks tp-link for making it so obvious by having AX1800 in huge bold letters on the front of the box, when in fact it's a TX20E(UN) as shown in tiny writing on a label on the side of the box...

I went to the tp-link website and it shows that the Archer TX20E Is the AX1800 adapter. Because of that I don't understand why the first driver you used didn't work. The good thing is that you got it working correctly

That's the right one, if you click on support it takes you to the page I showed a link to for the Archer TX20E

But again, the page you linked to referred to the AX1800, but the driver once the support link is clicked is for the Archer TX20E

Why have two products called the same thing?

If one is an Archer TX20E, call it an Archer TX20E not an AX1800

Just got a reply from tp-link, which explains a lot.

But then I'm easily confused... (But I still think the main title on the box in big bold letters should be Archer TX20E and not AX1800)

"AX1800" means the wireless specification, which is always listed on the box, not standing for the product model. If we search "AX1800", we can see many models, even different types of products. Anyway, sorry for the confusion caused.
