Solved PhoneLink vs. CarPlay

So I upgraded to a new laptop (System 2) and I finally can use PhoneLink (my System One's Bluetooth didn't play well with it). I get in my car (2025 Subaru Forester) and head down the road and notice that CarPlay on the infotainment screen is not available. I pull over and look at Bluetooth on my iPhone and notice that I am still "hooked" to the computer at home. Apparently you can't be attached to both at the same time....

So I have switched PhoneLink off for now as I need hands-free in the car more than I need PhoneLink on my desk...

Any thoughts campers?

You can pair multiple devices but only one can be active for phone calls or bluetooth. You have to manually switch between devices. It makes sense if you have a passenger with a paired device to your car. You have to manually select the default device instead of your car automatically assigning any device it detected. You don't want your passenger taking over your car's audio system.

Before getting into the car turn off Bluetooth in the phone settings and then turn it back. The phone should now connect with the car closest Bluetooth device (the car), and CarPlay should be enabled when you start the car.

I've done that, but I find it even easier to just disable PhoneLink. My phone sits next to me on my desk anyways, so the app really doesn't offer much....
