Hello,

Past last year, I had no issues with laptop overheating and power plan options. When I first started game for example Apex legends, my CPU temperature went up 91-92°, for me it wasn’t normal, so I looked up for solutions and one of them was change power plan settings maximum processor state when plugged in at 99%, witch worked just perfectly… my temperature went down to 82-85° stable. Every time I opened game, I needed to go out and switch power plan settings from high performance to balance (the one I changed settings). Everything was fine until 23/03/2022.

Now when I open game and want to switch power plan settings it doesn’t even show me option from high performance to balance, it automatically uses balance, witch is set to 99% max processor state. Still it does not work and CPU temperature goes up to 91-93°. Tried many suggestions about this problem, witch none of them worked.

It feels like power plan settings don’t work anymore, because when I changed maximum processor state at 5% it still used all its power and temps went high. There was no serious windows updates or game updates. I did try troubleshooting power settings, cmd powerscheme reset, xbox game mode deleting, windows and bios updates. Last option is pc reinstall, but before that I would like to try something else, maybe problem is very simple and some of you can help me.

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank You.

@Ghot gave the solution. Uninstall MSI utilities.

Sorry that didn't work. Look at windows update history. Was there an update applied on 3/23. If so,pause updates, and delete the update to see if everything goes back to normal.
By the way, please fill in your computer specs on your profile. It helps us to help you if we know what we are working with. Thanks.
