PowerShell Install doesn't start

I have PS 7.6.0 installed but Windows insists that I install 7.6.1, which I obviously can't. Is there some kind of "backdoor" way to do this install? I can't riun winget, because that requires PowerShell to run. Catch-22, a tip of the hat to Capt. Yossarian.

The Microsoft Store installer stalls at this point

Open Command Prompt or PowerShell as an Admin and execute following command to install update for PowerShell.

That's false. winget is a command-line program that's part of the DesktopAppInstaller app. It has no relation or dependency with PowerShell.

I stand corrected. However, even from an Administrative CMD prompt, this winget command doesn't run.

By the way I appreciate all the help I'm getting on this thread. If I sound "short," it's because I'm more than a bit frustrated.

I'm beginning to see why some people are abandoning Windows for MacOS or Linux.

PS 7 is considered an "optional" feature, meaning the fallback is PS 5.1.

Therefore for debugging purposes, have you tried uninstalling PS 7 first and then re-installing it?
