Hello Windows Insiders,

We are gradually rolling out a new feature, which allows you to use your mobile device directly from the Start menu on your Windows 11 PCs, to Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel. With this feature, you can stay connected and effortlessly access your mobile device’s functionalities right from the Start menu.

This feature is gradually rolling out to the Windows Insider community and available only for Android users on Windows 11 who are already connected via Phone Link. iOS support will be coming at a later date. This experience can be managed via Settings > Personalization > Start (support link).

Requirements:
  • Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.3790 and higher in the Beta Channel. (Other Insider Channels coming at a later date.)
  • [ADDED 8/2] Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.1330 and higher in the Dev Channel.
  • [UPDATED 8/2] Phone Link version 1.24061.93.0 and higher.

I've never been able to get PhoneLink to work reliably for a few years now. I just gave up on it...

In the beginning phone link was unstable but its been quite good for me for some time now on a Samsung phone.

I use the Phone Link everyday now as it's become pretty reliable. The only gripe I have is the slight delay between the text from my phone showing in the phone link. Now as far as the Phone Link Start menu companion I can't get that to enable for anything lol. Vivetool says both feature keys enabled and I have the latest Windows 11 Beta build and Phone Link ver 1.24061.89.0 but after reboot that option will not show in the settings and start menu. Guess I'll have to wait awhile to check it out.

I was using Phonelink with my iPhone. This year it has been flawless and worked right out of the box. Then I contemplated the fact that it’s bad enough Microsoft knows almost everything I do on my PC, id be more comfortable not letting them in on everything I do on my phone. So I uninstalled it.

Every time Phone Link updates on my system, a crash is logged in Event Viewer. This happens without even opening the app.

My only complaint about phone link is text messages are sent via mms and sms and not rcs.

Otherwise, I like it a lot.

That phone link Start menu companion popped up for me out the blue one day after a reboot for a driver update. I don't see a whole lot of use for it to be honest but I leave it enabled for giggles.
