Windows 11 notifications has a message:

1693604925052.png
(backupClient-abpb.exe is Ashampoo Backup software)
“Click to see settings” opens the Settings for Windows Security, Protection history where I have several messages saying: "Protected folder access blocked" at various dates.
The threat from this message is rated as “Low”. The “Filters” dropdown menu has “Blocked folder access” checked.

Clicking on the message "Protected folder access blocked" shows the following message:

“User Account Control
Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?
Windows Security
Verified publisher: Microsoft Windows”

What is going on here? The original notification suggests that Windows Security is blocking the Ashampoo Backup software, but the “User Account Control” message seems to suggest that Windows Security is blocking itself. (Very odd) Am I interpreting this correctly?

What should I do to resolve this problem?

If you need further advice then I'd suggest asking in the tutorial thread itself.

You get that also with Aeomi Backupper, Revo etc. If you know the app is safe then allow it.

No, you are not. That UAC prompt is just asking if you wish to allow Windows Security to run with the admin privileges it requires to show you the details.

When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.
