Hello all :D
Is there a way to display national holidays using Windows' built-in settings? Or is it simply not possible at all?

Hi braaphub,

You can use Outlook's calendar for holidays. It's pretty cool. I use it.

Kind regards,

thank you, it seems I'm more interested in the Thunderbirds. And it's a real shame that the default Windows calendar on the taskbar just sits there doing nothing

As Edwin said , not to the calendar that pops up on bottom right corner of taskbar.
But there are tons of other options.

For Outlook New, Outlook Classic, or Outlook on the web you can add holidays. Add holidays to your calendar in Outlook | Microsoft Support

If you use Google email, you already see holidays in the Google calendar that is included in the Google group of apps (9 dots)Google calendar already shows holidays.

You can also install Google Calendar as a PWA app if you use Edge or Chrome and pin it to the taskbar.

Many 3rd party calendar apps in Windows store but I can't recomment any of them since I don't use them.

I use new Outlook mail client, part of Windows 11, and part of that is a Calendar linked to an Email Account. Outlook mail and Gmail will give you national holidays by ticking appropriate boxes.

There are dozens of alternative calendars from the MS Store.

It’s been a long time since I last used Outlook for Windows—I actually uninstalled it completely. Notifications often didn’t show up automatically, so I had to refresh manually every time, even though all my settings were correct.
The issue stayed even after I reinstalled Windows, and I never received any response on Feedback Hub. It seems like they only reply to certain users or people with special roles, but that’s okay. I don’t know how the latest Outlook updates are doing right now, so maybe I’ll give it another try later.
For now, I’m using Thunderbird instead.

Thanks a lot for all the info, and sorry if my translation is a bit messy 🙏

Is there a way to display national holidays using Windows' built-in settings?
Is that intended for USA public holidays? Or for your own country?
Public holidays tend to differ quite a lot from country to country. Some are common (like Christmas) but others differ very much.
I can imagine you would not have 'Koningsdag' on April 27th in Indonesia...

I know, only for my own country. I can now detect all holiday events in my country using Mozilla Thunderbird
