I bit the bullet and bought the AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D CPU. I installed it last night. The only annoyance is that in between the time I started this thread and when I bought it the price had gone up almost $20.
The CPU temperature was about 50C about the same as before. I used ASUS AI Suite to adjust the fan curves. The CPU temperature is now about 40C at idle. If I run a benchmark the CPU temperature goes up to about 60C. I find these temperatures acceptable.
I haven't had a chance to play games using this new CPU but I did run benchmarks before and after the CPU change.
