Ongoing random and intermittent BSODs - not happening on regular basis and not apparently associated with any specific activity. BSOD happens every 1-4 days. Past 5 BSODs happened as follows: 2 while playing Audacity song project, 1 while navigating an Excel spreadsheet, 2 while computer not actively being used. All HW has been tested and all but CPU has been swapped out (including MoBo). No errors in any tests including DISM and SFC. Two different testing tools used for GPU, RAM and CPU with no errors detected. Last 5 bugchecks - HyperVisor Error (3), Kmode exception (1), System Svc Exception (1). Rebuilt Windows image about 2 months ago with no notable relief from BSOD occurrences.

Any thoughts or input appreciated.

1) Run Tuneup plus > post a share link

2) Create a new restore point:

3) Run Memtest86 for 8 or more passes > take pictures > post images or share links

Just 1 error is a test fail and testing can be aborted.

The more the passes the better the testing conditions.

It sometimes takes passes into the 20's to detect malfunctioning RAM.

The RAM can be tested all at one time or one at a time in the same DIMM.

Thanks for the quick reply. The short answer is "YES" - I have tried SFC and DISM multiple times typically with no relief (even when SFC finds and corrects an issue). However, it's been a while since I've run SFC - tried it yesterday and it did correct errors. Since this is an intermittent issue, I'll give it a few days and report back.

I"ve not tried "TuneUp plus" but will give it a shot. (UPDATE - Defender flags Tuneup plus - I'm deferring using it until I can research further).

I've run Memtest86 so many times I've lost count. I also have swapped RAM - neither the old nor new RAM has ever resulted in a single error. I have also used other testing tools that test GPU, CPU and RAM multiple times with the same results (zero failuers).

The bat scripts require manual overrides.

Run the batch file

To run the batch file, open File Explorer, navigate to where you downloaded the batch file, and then double-click on it or right-click on it and select Open.

DO NOT run it directly from a Download, as your anti-virus may object and stop it running.
Always download it to your hard disk/SSD and then run it there.

Thanks for this input... The file was already downloaded to a drive and I was using OPEN/DOUBLE CLICK but Defender was blocking. I solved this by clicking "UNBLOCK" once I was convinced it was OK to run.

I just ran Tuneup Plus - here is a link to the output: Tuneup.log
Also - I have updated the V2LOG to reflect 2 recent BSODs - Tuneup.log
As I mentioned in a previous post - I have run Memtest and other memory testing utilities numerous times with zero failures or errors found. I have done this for 2 different sets of memory with the same results.

Thanks!
This is an update after the various responses I received:
- After my initial post, I ran SFC and it did find/correct an issue. I waited to see if any additional BSODs would occur. Since running that SFC, I have had 2 BSODs. The first was 0XA (IRQL) which occurred while attempting to capture a video. The second was another hypervisor error which occurred while trying to view a video. I attempted both actions multiple times after reboot with no further occurrences of either error.
- I also ran SFC and DISM after the failures with no errors found.
- V2Log after those BSODs is posted here: FRANKENPUTER-(2024-08-31_11-07-25).zip
- Per a request in this thread... I also ran Tuneup Plus. Log is here Tuneup.log

Thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply. I was on 2.8 but reverted to 2.7 due to unusual behavior. All components are on the QVL including components I swapped in an effort to see if each HW component might be causing an issue.

Thanks for the heads up - I'm not quite what has changed as I used pcpartpicker and MSI web site to verify all the various components I swapped prior to purchase but I'm not seeing that part number now on MSI website list. Interestingly, pcpartpicker still shows CMK32GX4M2E3200C16 as compatible with the B550 Tomahawk Max Wifi and Ryzen 5 3600 CPU as does the Corsair compaibility web site.

Worst case, I'll swap back in the original DIMMs (BL16G32C16U4B.M16FE1) as they still show as compatible - I originally swapped these DIMMs out as part of a systematic effort to isolate any HW causing the issues even though MEMTEST never failed.

I'm skeptical that the RAMM model is the cause of the issues (esp. since this appears to be only about the model version of the DIMM) but this is a variable I'll have to sort out - will research and report back. Thanks again for the heads up.

The motherboard QVL lists have the best tested RAM.

Other RAM may or may not be compatible.

The software used for RAM testing were designed to test for malfunctioning RAM.

Motherboard QVL RAM testing is best to eliminate incompatibility as a cause of unexpected shutdowns and restarts.

@zbook - Understand totally about the nature of QVL testing and agree on it's importance. I was skeptical because of prior testing I've done and because the Corsair RAM was on the QVL list when I purchased it. Not sure why it is no longer on the list.
However, I swapped out the Corsair RAM for the original Ballistix RAM (which is still on the QVL list) and 1 BSOD has occurred since the swap. I'll post updated diagnostics after a 2nd BSOD has occurred.
Thanks for the input

Per input on this thread - I swapped back to the RAM that is still in the QVL - since that time, 2 additional BSODs have occurred. As before, the BSODs appear to be random and intermittent (one IRL bugcheck while audacity was running and one kernel security failure while the computer was unoccupied and not actively being used). I have uploaded Tuneuplog and V2Log output here:
v2log: FRANKENPUTER-(2024-09-17_07-33-25).zip
tuneuplog: Tuneup.log

Any other input or suggestions appreciated.

1) Read this link on Windows Driver Verifier (WDV):

Enable and Disable Driver Verifier in Windows 10

2) Create a new restore point

3) Learn the methods to recover from BSOD caused by WDV by booting into safe mode and running one or more of these commands:

verifier /reset

verifier /bootmode resetonbootfail

4) Plan to run the tool for approximately 48 hours with various customized test settings.

a) Test all non-Microsoft drivers

b) Test no Microsoft drivers

c) For the first run of WDV select the 3 customized tests displayed in the TF tutorial

5) Whenever the WDV tool is started if there is no immediate BSOD then open administrative command prompt and copy and paste:

verifier /querysettings

Post a share link.

WDV can run continuously during the testing.

Customized tests will be posted for each run of WDV.

For any BSOD post a new V2 share link into the newest post.

@zbook thanks for the detailed info on WDV. I'm actually familiar with the tool and have used it previously in attempting to diagnose these failures BUT I am not familiar with the TF Tutorial you mention. Can you clarify what that is?
Thanks again

@zbook - Thanks. I figured it out (of course) shortly after hitting send. Here is the link to the verifier settings. Will repost when next BSOD occurs.
