Apps Refresh Copilot in Windows 11

This tutorial will show you how to refresh Copilot for your account in Windows 11 and Windows 10.

A preview of Copilot in Windows will start rolling out with the next wave of continuous innovation in Windows 11 version 22H2 KB5030310 Build 22621.2361 on September 26, 2023. Copilot in Windows adds AI to your Windows 11 experience to help you find answers, complete tasks, and be more productive. With Copilot, people can quickly make sense of long articles on the web, craft and polish content, or create stunning images--all directly within the Windows 11 experience.

After installing Windows 10 build 19045.3754, Windows Insiders in Release Preview with eligible devices running Windows 10, version 22H2 who are interested in experiencing Copilot in Windows as soon as possible when Microsoft begins rolling it out in the near future, can choose to do so by turning on Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available and Check for updates. This will be a phased launch via controlled feature rollout (CFR) over the coming months. Windows 10 Pro edition devices on version 22H2 that are managed by organizations will not be included in the initial rollout of Copilot in Windows. Windows 10 Enterprise and Education edition devices on version 22H2 will also not be included in the initial rollout of Copilot in Windows.

Windows Copilot will use the same Microsoft account (MSA) or Azure Active Directory (AAD) account used to sign-in to Windows.

Windows Copilot will appear as a side bar docked to the right where it won’t overlap with your desktop content and will run unobstructed alongside your open app windows, allowing you to interact with Windows Copilot anytime you need.

You can refresh Copilot on demand to reload Copilot and start over conversations.

Here's How:

1 Open Copilot (Win+C).

2 Perform one of the following actions when you want to refresh Copilot: (see screenshots below)
  • Click/tap on the Refresh button at the top of the Copilot side bar.
  • Click/tap on the More options (3 dots) button at the top of the Copilot side bar, and click/tap on Refresh.

That's it,

Windows Copilot availability has a really silly behavior with Local Accounts.
This statement in the Microsoft reply is still not true in latest Dev Build 23619.
They still didn't get it to work properly as advertised.
The same behavior described below with any Build, including current public build.

I can get it enabled if I turn on these 2 bits in the registry, but they get reset to zero after a reboot or sign out and sign in.

Yet those 2 bits get preserved after Shutdown and Power up if Fast Startup is enabled, they still get reset to zero after a restart. 😂😂😝🤷‍♂️
Typical MS inconsistent logic! Must be A.I. 🤣🤣😝

I found the refresh option a few days ago . . . just messing around and punching buttons . . .

I had already asked Copilot how to get rid of stuff I'd already searched for and read and it didn't know how . . . Sheesh!

Anyway, I'll point my students to this one. Thanks.

I've gotten pretty good info from Copilot. Things I haven't been able to find with regular search.

Weird.
Works for me on every Build from Public 22631.3007, R.P., Beta, Dev, Canary. 🤷‍♂️

Can also use this shortcut if I don't get the Icon on the taskbar.

microsoft-edge:///?ux=copilot&tcp=1&source=taskbar

If Copilot is not activated it the shortcut just opens MS Edge. 😂
