Same user, different user?
Which edition of Windows (home, pro)?

If this is Windows 10/11 they only support a single session by design.

Sounds a little more involved than I expected.

How to stop remote PC from logging off when connecting to it with Remote Desktop?
I found this on stackoverflow which should be correct:

Use the "X" button along the top on your RDP session you do not get logged off. You will be disconnected and your user session is still there running. There is a Windows-GPO that can be used to set a time limit on disconnected sessions.

Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Remote Desktop Services/Remote Desktop Session Host/Session Time Limits

There should be a setting Set time limit for disconnected sessions. Check if it is Not Configured or Enabled with Never.

If this does not solve your Problem it is probably a problem with the application that needs a connected User Session.

I have never been a fan of remote desktop but it should work if you do that. It shouldn't be logging you off only disconnecting the session.

Or avoid all of this and use a third party remote tool, I like chrome remote desktop ( you dont need chrome installed) or teamviewer etc

It isn't logging me off, it is logging the computer I am connecting to off. I was using AnyDesk and it didn't do that, but they are after money and are now putting up a notice that we have to qualify as a home user and they did set a time limit on how long it will take for that qualification to activate. I will take a look at the chrome remote desktop.

yes, I know? If you use rdp you can only have one session. So if you mean someone else is using the computer while your remoting in that will happen.

And yeah check out chrome remote desktop. No issue with using it for free. Use it with the access my computer option.

If you use it, I would create a google account specifically for it with two factor app security enabled.

You can also use the quick assist app thats built into windows
