I have tried all methods here but the damn clock remains. Very simple to remove in 10 but not 11.

Anyone got any advice?

This OS is a nightmare and I can see Windows 10 being reinstalled.
Anyway after having to do a clean install I gained access to the explorer shell:::{05d7b0f4-2121-4eff-bf6b-ed3f69b894d9}\SystemIcons and have turned the clock to off and on but still it remains in the notification area.

WTF.

Clicking on Why can't I change settings just opens a Windows 11 page which left me baffled as to what am I supposed to do with it?

Try to run the explorer shell:::{05d7b0f4-2121-4eff-bf6b-ed3f69b894d9}\SystemIcons as an Administrator bij opening it with Cmd with Administrator rights (right-click CMD will show option "Run as Administrator".

Thanks but as I said I did manage to get to the point where I have the choice of 'Off' or 'On' but whichever I choose the bloody clock remains in the notification area which is so beginning to annoy me.
Thanks anyway.

Current Winaero Tweaker has a setting under Windows 11 that reverts to Classic Taskbar. I can confirm it does get rid of the clock until it's turned on. My purpose in using it was to have T-Clock Redux instead of the Windows clock. It also enables replacement of the Windows Start button with one for Open-Shell.

Thanks or that, given though my PC is as slow as could be because of the bug with AMD CPU's I going to leave trying to sort this until Microsoft has sorted the issue.

Is it the same as either of the methods that have been posted above?

hi Denis,

Those previous posts are for the preview versions only and it wont work for official release. For official release, check the video I posted. I'd been trying to hide my clock for my school presentation but couldn't find any solution. Glad I've found that video.

It worked for me on the released version and it has worked for others.
explorer shell:::{05d7b0f4-2121-4eff-bf6b-ed3f69b894d9}\SystemIcons

For the benefit of others -

The UTube video [8 minutes] tells you to
- install WinAero & OpenShell [Menu only], then
- set WinAero's Classic taskbar [which tells WinAero to run the UndockingDisabled method - see, for example, My Taskbar setup [post #6] - ElevenForum]
- use OpenShell Menu [this suppressed the Taskbar clock, which was the aim of the video]
- use WinAero to choose the system icons [i.e. to access the choices in explorer shell:::{05d7b0f4-2121-4eff-bf6b-ed3f69b894d9}\SystemIcons], some [but not all] of which could now be changed. The Taskbar clock appear/hide setting remained disabled in the video, possibly by OpenShell Menu, so could not be changed.

I have not used the video's method.
- I had already used My Taskbar setup [post #6] - ElevenForum which includes enabling the classic Taskbar & enabling chosen system icons].
- The video includes a step that I had not.
- - I had not installed OpenShell Menu or anything else to replace the Start menu.
- - There'd be nothing to stop me installing OpenShell Menu or similar but I already had a Taskbar Toolbar that fulfilled all my 'menu' needs.

So the conclusion is that one cannot hide the clock in Windows 11 without installing third-party tools like OpenShell?

Windows 11 is a nightmare 😵

No, that link takes you to Windows own dialog for choosing system icons to show or hide.

That is not hiding it. It just hides parts of the clock which looks stupid. It is also a very tedious way to do it. What happened to registry hacks? Windows 11 doesn't use registry for stuff like this?

Glad I haven't upgraded yet. Windows 11 is a true horror show.

As stated earlier on, you do not need to edit the Registry to remove the clock. Just de-select it in the system icons dialog
explorer shell:::{05d7b0f4-2121-4eff-bf6b-ed3f69b894d9}\SystemIcons
just as you would for Windows 10.

All the best,
