Hi, I updated Edge to the latest version today Version 122.0.2365.52. On the Homepage, the Weather widget/Icon has appeared with no apparent way to turn it off.
If I click on the gear icon on the homepage, there is no option to turn this off. The weather card which appears at the foot of the page can be turned off by hovering over the 3 dots and click "Hide This Card".
The settings on the Gear icon Page are:-
Layout Custom
Quick Links. Off.
Background None
Content Off
Would be grateful for any suggestions how to remove this unneccessary distraction.
Thanks Mitch.

Thanks very much. The strange thing is that this weather widget has only appeared on my daughter's laptop but not on the 2 others. All 3 have Location turned off in Settings and also Edge and all 3 are running the the latest Edge version 122.0.2365.52. The weather widget on my daughter's PC shows her location, and having her credit card details hacked several months ago, she is a bit concerned. The widget allows her to input an alternative location but auto detect shows her real one. Her auto detected location cannot be removed. She is signed in with a MS account but so are the other 2. We have gone through all the settings relating to Location and Permissions and all are off. Not sure if we have missed anything.

Are you talking about Weather appearing in Edge sidebar? If so turn sidebar off. Edge>3dots>settings>sidebar
OR
if you want to keep the sidebar, customize the sidebar in same place as well as set app specific settings for each app that appears on the sidebar

That is odd. I've turned everything off including background and there is a setting to turn off the weather. No idea what the weather card is you mention.

Hi. The weather widget appears in the top right corner of Edge, below the toolbar and next to the gear icon. Clicking the gear shows settings the same as Fabler2 - the only difference is "Show Promoted Links" are off. It also doesn't show "Show Weather" in these settings so can't turn it off. Edge settings are set to "Open New Tab". This only appeared after this Update. Also there is a box at the bottom of the screen saying " Temp is lower than..." but that can be turned off by hovering over the box and clicking and selecting "Hide this Card," Thanks

Exactly. Screenshots make all the difference. Otherwise, it's a guessing game for us.

Mitch, It took me forever to figure out why what I see is so different. It appears you have edge set to "when edge starts open to a new tab." The weather is tied to the "New tab page"

When I set mine to open to new tab I get like the first screenshot with the weather across the bottom. When on this page I can select the gear and remove weather per second screenshot.
When I set mine to open to a specific page (normal for me & Google page in my case) I get the third screenshot. No weather.

If you do not see that toggle to turn off weather in settings like my screenshot, See if setting Edge to open to any web page of your choosing instead of a new tab doesn't get rid of weather.

Hi glasskuter, Yes the page is set to the New Tab page when opening. We'll try in the morning to set it to another start page. We tried "about:blank" but it clears everything even the search bar. We'll have to try to think of a neutral home page. Thanks again. We appreciate your help. Mitch.

Hi, If we use a URL eg microsoft.com, Edge opens without the weather showing, but is difficult to search from there. If we wanted to use the blank tab when starting or hitting the Home button we still get this weather notification. I did a repair install of Edge twice, and the weather still shows my daughter's approximate location - there is still no option not to show weather in the settings (gear icon) on the Home page - doesn't show.
The strange thing is if we go to a website such as Amazon, my daughter's approximate location shows on the homepage (deliver to...) even if she is not signed in and all cookies have been cleared - this is starting to concern her. I have checked all settings in Windows and also in Edge and everything which could log where she is is off. We are at a bit of a loss to see where she goes from here other, than a clean install which she is reluctant to do due to Uni work. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. Mitch.

I did some checking for my daughter and I don't think it's a particular browser issue. I downloaded Firefox and checked Amazon without her signing in and no cookies and the same delivery location appeared as in Edge and Chrome. I checked the Geolocation of our ISP using a link from a recent post on the forum and the correct location appeared - same as Amazon. Everything in Privacy and Location is turned off. Are there any other settings affecting location that we missed? Thanks.

Same thing appeared on my laptop and not on either of my PC's. It used to be an option to shut off, "Remove Greeting" and that was located on the top left of the new tab page. Now it is being forced on us without being able to shut off/remove.

That's exactly what we see. The show weather box is missing from Edge on my daughter's pc, but shows on mine - all Edge and privacy settings are the same. I checked the MS Account to see if that affected the issue but privacy is on and location off. A repair install of Edge changes nothing I'm afraid.

No reason not to use another browser, but why can't we ask about this?

As a mechanic, I wouldn't tell you to go buy another car if yours could be fixed.
