I have googled reset PC without removing installed programs. They all lead to the attached image which doesn't show such asn option.

Is there a way to reset my Windows 11 PC WITHOUT losing installed programs?

Repair Install Windows 11 with an In-place Upgrade

This tutorial will show you how to do a repair install of Windows 11 by performing an in-place upgrade without losing anything. If you need to repair or create a new recovery partition or having problems with the Windows 11 operating system on your PC, and the usual solutions will not fix it...

Here is the short version of the In-place upgrade tutorial...

DISABLE non-Microsoft:
a) antivirus software
b) firewall software
c) drive encryption software

Make a full OS backup with a program like Macrium Reflect (free)
Macrium Software | Macrium Reflect Free

Go here and get the Windows 11 ISO (use the 3rd option), and save the ISO to your desktop.
Download Windows 11

Right click the ISO image and choose: MOUNT
Open File Explorer and you will see a new drive letter. It will "look" like a DVD optical drive.
Double click the new drive letter to open it.
Find setup.exe and double click it to start the in-place upgrade.

Choose the Keep personal files and apps option.

After it's all done... to UNmount the ISO image, right click the new drive letter and choose: EJECT.


The ONLY thing you will lose is some of your personalizations. Your programs and data will be intact.

    Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 15 years?
OK well I download the iso yesterday and mounted it and clkickjed set.up half an hour ago. Its very slowly checking for updates.

I'll continue on this route thanks for the help.

Checking for updates should only take a few seconds before it moves on. What are your machine specs?

When performing a reset there is always a loss of drivers and applications.
The same with Windows refresh, custom install, and clean install.

If there are Windows problems and you want to retain applications then the remaining options are in place upgrade repair as Ghot posted or startup repair, system restore, or manually troubleshooting the Windows problems.

Lose applications:
a) reset save files
b) reset remove files
c) Window refresh
d) custom install
e) clean install

Maintain applications:
a) in place upgrade repair
b) startup repair
c) system restore
