This tutorial will show you how to reset settings to default in Microsoft Edge for your account in Windows 10 and Windows 11.

The Microsoft Edge web browser is based on Chromium and was released on January 15, 2020. It is compatible with all supported versions of Windows, and macOS. With speed, performance, best in class compatibility for websites and extensions, and built-in privacy and security features.

If needed, you can restore settings to their default values for your profile in Microsoft Edge.

This will reset your startup page, new tab page, search engine, and pinned tabs. It will also turn off all extensions, and clear temporary data like cookies.

Your favorites, history and saved passwords will not be cleared.

Here's How:

1 Open Microsoft Edge.

2 Click/tap on the Setting and more (Alt+F) 3 dots button, and click/tap on Settings. (see screenshot below)

3 Click/tap on Appearance in the left pane, and click/tap on the Restore settings to their default values link on the right side. (see screenshot below)

If you do not see a left pane, then either click/tap on the 3 bars menu button towards the top left OR widen the horizontal borders of the Microsoft Edge window until you do.

5 You will see Settings were reset at the top right corner when finished. (see screenshot below)

6 You can now close the Settings tab if you like.

That's it,

To reassure users (as I used this procedure myself), your Favorites, your custom settings (Performance and Settings, Sidebar etc. customizations) and everything linked to your account WON'T be changed. All you'll notice after reset will be site cookies clean-up (webmail, or Amazon etc. will ask you again user/pass you can choose from pull-down menus...) and add-ons disabled (you can re-enable them)... so don't be afraid to try that if you cannot solve an issue with Edge :-)
