I have discovered that using Settings...Recovery...Reset PC removes all third-party apps but leaves Hasleo and Macrium in the boot options, both of which still work.

I could not understand why Hasleo was not installed but it was still in the boot menu. I had reset Windows last week and reinstalled Macrium but had not got around to reinstalling Hasleo. I guess this saves a few hundred Megabytes of storage.

So I tried it again and can confirm.

Sort of makes sense. The apps generates the boot options and necessary files when you request it of the app. These are not part of the app itself. The uninstall for the apps must not consider that. You can test this by uninstalling the app and see if it leaves the boot options.

Because they are in the EFI partition and referenced in the BCD which is also on the EFI.
Reset the BCD and they would be gone.

I used the option to reinstall Windows 11 this way
Update/Advanced Options/Recovery/Fix Problems using Windows Update/ Reinstall now. It does remove any of the installed programs. Worked good for me.

I tried that and uninstalling from Control Pane 'apps and features' removes the BCD entry and the RE/PE.
