MS 'System Restore' is unreliable at the best of times.

I would suugest that you backup your system & data using one of the following Macrium Reflect (which I use) or AOMEI

It is usually best to attempt the restore of a Restore Point from within Safe Mode. This prevents AV software and other apps from interfering, causing the "restore" to fail. I have had good success using it in Safe Mode, when I have had occasion to use it, usually because I got very quickly got rid of a new program that I decided I did not like.

The advice to use a dedicated backup software app and have a robust backup strategy is VERY sound advice. I would not rely on System Restore alone, for one thing, it does not back up your data. I image all partitions on my computers every week.

Have a great day.

Regards,
Phil
