Router/Firewall before ISP gateway

Possible to put a router w firewall settings and let it assign on my internal network?
My ISP Comcast/Xfinity gateway ain’t cutting it. 1100GB went out August and they initially were concerned and elevated to security team - they never contacted me. When I called them, they accused me of using my own equipment and they rep, “Star” hung up on me. Called back- asked for supervisor/mgmt they told me “there isn’t one, “were are all the same here.”
Just installed the OS again and as soon as I connected my ethernet cable the demons started coming back.

Yes. I havent done it since Modem/Routers improved over the years, but it used to be standard to put a dedicated router/firwall between the modem and your PC. I can’t see why that would of changed.
Not sure what that has to do with your 1100GB
A firewall as you know is for security, not improvement.

They have an approved list of BYO equipment.

It doesn’t quite work like that… does it? As soon as you connected, like immediately?

@antspants , I may be incorrect, but I think he's referring to his comments in this post that was started by another user.
BEST strategy or software to prevent any remote users whatsoever from penetrating my systems.

I thought the 1100GB referred to his connection. I don’t know why someone good enough to infiltrate a system would stop with the issues described. Surely they’d hijack with some kind of ransomeware, although a backdoor could also be plausible..
I read posts like that and I wonder what software has been installed on a system and from where it came from. Still, neither post really offeres any detailed information, screenshots or window in to the practices used.

@WTNVBFL how long have you been computing for and is all the software on your PC ethical? (Legitimate)

I’ve been unable to reply sooner, sorry. @glasskuter is correct, referring to other post. @antspants all DL’s r from MS store or answers/account/learn/support.microsoft.com. Poweruptech MSI, or other valid manufactures url.
New firewall IS the improvement, a security improvement. WDF is basically open , ipsec policy default / sha-1 with firewall “any” in almost every enabled in/outbound field, apps get added/allowed through firewall w/o notification. Security groups “everyone “ administrator(s) singular & plural, “unknown user “ then the usual others I expect to see. Dial protocol, smb, work folders- are turned on by default with expired certificates galore- each time I clean install iso from MS site:
Linked device on acct.Microsoft .com my device is version 2009 build 22631.31555. Iso file installed windows 11 build 22631.2861. I do not have a choice for which version. Just one from ms site Win11_23H2_English_x64v2.iso and hash verification done each time. However Rufus keeps finding revoked bootloaders. Recent attempt for clean install On Feb 28: 517 officially revoked UEFI boot loaders in bedded list. 2351 additional revoked from system SKUSiPolicy.P7B
After diskpart and secure erase.
