Safeboot mode results in endless pin reset request loop lockout. 24H2 bug?

Was trying to log in to windows after setting safeboot mode in msconfig so I can switch raid controller mode and now at logon page it says 'something happened please reset your pin your screwed' {adlibbing} and no matter what stuck with no way to reset pin. The only way back into windows and bypassing the broken pin request after setting your bios configuration back to AHCI is to at the logon page press and hold down shift while selecting restart from the power button menu. Then you go into advanced options and select command prompt and type "bcdedit /deletevalue {default} safeboot". Then you reboot and then you can log back in to windows. I don't know if this is an 24H2 bug but this is ridiculous. For future access to safe mode anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks

Furthermore clicking sign out shuts down the machine. Its suppose to take you to the logon page and not shut down. 24H2 is a total mess. I can't even add a password to my account. It only gives you PIN option among the other biometric options to sign in. No password.

No I didnt try editing registry. Allways did it by going into safemode. Anyhow regardless inability to login to safeboot is a serious problem for 24H2.

Good article you linked. Will try hovever having a secondary problem that my solo boot drive gets put under the control of the raid controller and cant boot from this under AMD raid. Not sure how to fix short of reinstalling windows which I dont want to do again.

If you find yourself having to do a clean install you can try this. Make an image of you system to a external drive with the backup program of your choice. A lot of members including myself recommend Macrium. You can still find the free version if you need it. I use Major Geeks. Download Macrium Reflect FREE Edition - MajorGeeks Disconnect the external drive when the image finishes and do your clean install. After you get Windows installed, restore the image of just your old C: partition over the new C: partition.

I actually have own a four pack license to Macrium and thats all I use or trust. Reason I wanted to do this was as result of a SSD upgrade gone bad. Long story short had a solo boot disk in M.1 slot with an AMD X670E raid array setup in M.2 + M.3. So I cloned the boot drive onto a new pci-e 5.0 drive, had pcie 4.0 prior, and after performing the swap it booted but locked up, failed to load repeatedly into logon, and blue screened. So I thought stick with AHCI and installed fresh copy of windows and had multiple road blocks. First the 24H2 installer asked for network drivers which felt stupid because X670E been around for a couple years and you would think microsoft would have included them in there. After that had to deal with Onedrive messing up my hard drive with littered files from ten other computers. Even after uninstalling onedrive had to restore the desktop, download, documents and picture folders back to their default locations which was a pain. Then I thought lets try turning on AMD raid again and installed AMD raid drivers proactively and set safeboot mode on in msconfig and rebooted into bios only to find that the boot drive was missing and only visible within the RAID manager in bios. Couldn't figure out how to enable the M.1 boot drive no matter what and then went back AHCI mode where I couldn't enter my pin anymore.

Anyhow like those instructions you guys posted but the dell instruction is for Intel raid not AMD so not sure about it. Fwiw I did a similar upgrade on my other pc which was a z590 rig with only other exception no hardware raid and it went silky smooth. I only had a hard time screwing in the heatsink upright. Go figure I ended up with a screw loose on top of everything else! Lol.

Just wanted to add I finally was able to get into safe boot mode. I had to enable the adminstrative account in cmd and then turn off the feature 'only allow windows hello sign in for ms accounts' under additional settings for sign in options. Still can't get into my main account possibly because its an online account. So MS has bugs to fix I guess.
