Samsung Announces Official Rollout of One UI 7 Starting From April 7

 Samsung Newsroom:

Samsung Electronics today announced that the official rollout of One UI 7 will start April 7, bringing a bold new design for greater personalization and control to the user experience. One UI 7 introduces new interface built for AI, helping users interact with their Galaxy devices more naturally than ever before. The update will be available starting with the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6, gradually rolling out to more Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

Bold New Design for Greater Personalization

One UI 7 comes with a simple, impactful and emotive design, bringing streamlined and cohesive experience to Galaxy users. A simplified home screen, redesigned One UI widgets and lock screen allow users to intuitively and seamlessly customize their devices.

For added convenience, Now Bar provides real-time updates that matter most right on the lock screen. So during a morning run, users can easily check their progress and see what song is playing in your Galaxy Buds — all with a simple swipe, without unlocking their phone.

Smarter AI Features for More Intuitive Experience

One UI 7 introduces seamless AI-driven experiences that help users to stay productive and explore their creativity.

With Galaxy AI, users can simplify everyday tasks, minimizing the need to switch between applications. AI Select intuitively recommends by understanding context. For example, a user can simple swipe the Edge Panel and click ‘AI Select’ icon when watching a video to save it as a GIF file. Writing Assist allows users to easily summarize or automatically format contents in which texts can be selected.

One UI 7 also enables simple edits to give users more creative control and freedom. Drawing Assist helps bring ideas to life with more than a single input, including combinations of text prompts and images or sketches. Audio Eraser makes advanced editing accessible for all, by isolating categories of sounds and removing unwanted noise in videos.

With deeper Google Gemini integration, controlling the device is as easy as speaking to a friend. Long-press the side button and say, “Find Italian, pet-friendly restaurants with outdoor seating nearby.” Gemini instantly pulls up recommendations in one seamless interaction.

Natural language search extends to Settings, making it easier to adjust preferences. Users can simply go into Settings and say “My eyes are feeling tired.” In an instant, recommended options such as adjusting brightness or turning on Eye comfort shield appear.

One UI 7 will roll out in Singapore from 14 April 2025 for the Galaxy S24 Series, and gradually to other eligible Galaxy devices listed below.

You're certainly not alone in that!
A colleague of mine at work gets a new Samsung flagship every other year, uses it straight out of the box, all the bells and whistles, doesn't perform any recommended optimization tweaks..., his phone is slow as molasses and the battery lasts about 2-3rds of the day, if he's lucky!

Yes, but I bet he gets fantastic photos.
Of course, they may not be REAL - (I was shocked, shocked I tell you, when I read that if you take a photo of the moon with the top of the line Samsung phones, they use AI to "improve" the image.)

Yep - When I first got my S22+ Galaxy phone (I wanted uwb capability), the battery went down so quickly, I thought the battery was faulty. I barely got 8 hours at best.

I went through my apps and set only my bank and mail apps to never sleep (7 apps in total) so I get notifications.

The 70 others are set to deep sleep when not in use.

I then went through the Galaxy Artificial Incompetence section and there were loads of pox ridden features all set to on. Every one is off now.

Hell most of them I would never use - what sort of masochist would try and edit pictures on a phone when it is 10x easier to use a pc?

After this, the battery now lasts for most of the day (say 14+hrs) including even quite a bit of streaming.

What we REALLY need is a smartphone (without most of this BS AI power burning nonsense) but with a battery that lasts a week even when streaming/talking.

Who remembers the good old days when legendary phones like the Nokia 3310 only needed to be charged once a week!

Who remembers the good old days when legendary phones like the Nokia 3310 only needed to be charged once a week!
I can get close to a week out of my Samsung Galaxy A35, with moderate use, if I wanted to.

Go through battery background usage limits settings and select apps you always want to run in background (I just select banking apps and mail apps amd my hearing aid app (only app I run 24/7) so I get notifications). I deselect all designated as sleeping and then they get moved to deep sleeping.

This has the bonus you only get notifications when app is being used, most of which are just plain annoying.

Putting them in deep sleep reduces battery usage.

Every so often I use close all from the three vertical menu in task bar to make sure all opened apps are reclosed.

Of course, the decision which apps to run in background is a personal choice.
