Samsung is expanding the One UI 8.5 rollout to more devices, bringing the latest Galaxy AI features across the Samsung Galaxy ecosystem. The update focuses on enhancing communication and creative experiences on Galaxy mobile phones and tablets, including the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy S25 FE, Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7, Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6, Galaxy Tab S11 series and Galaxy Tab S10 series.

One UI 8.5 will begin rolling out in Korea starting May 6 with additional regions to follow.

I've been using it for awhile now as it came preinstalled on my S26 and for the most part it's pretty good. I have two gripes one minor and one major. The minor one was a couple bugs with Samsung news, one of which they are still trying to fix. Most people probably don't use the built-in Samsung news app and won't care though.

The big gripe I have at least for the Samsung phones is the spamware AppCloud app that is a pre-installed component, deeply integrated into the system, that pushes recommendations for other apps and attempts to install them without ongoing user consent. It can't be removed only disabled and may reactivate after a phone update. Already been the victim of it when I didn't know what it was and clicked it and had it install a dozen garbage apps and games onto my phone. Had to go through all my apps removing the spam ones one by one aftwards and won't make that mistake again. I've had it disabled ever since and I've read there is a major hacking you can do to actually remove this integrated app but I haven't gone to that extreme yet.

One thing Iphone does far better than Android is when they anniunce a new version of IOS - boom everybody entitled to it just gets it.
Samsung takes months - you only get it today if you own a dog, drive a hyundai, speak esperanto, and enjoy watching paint dry.

Just got upgraded to UI 8.5 in UK on S25 FE.

Most of the new features are run of mill "meh" stuff but the updated AI audio eraser (reducing background noise especially irritating music) feature is impressive.

With UI8, it worked quite well but only on stored videos and could take ages to process a video.

With UI8.5, it now works on streaming videos as well instantaneously IN REAL TIME.

As a deaf person, unnecessary background noise is the bane of my life even with good hearing aids, making speech difficult to follow.

Just listened to a streaming video from BBC and I am really impressed with the difference with AI audio eraser. The background noise is reduced by 70+% and speech is much easier to follow.

lt is worth upgrading to UI8.5 for this feature alone!

I know UI8.5 is to be updated on S22 onwards but it is unclear if the new audio erase feature will work on all phone. The best I can glean is it will work on S24 but not earlier phones.


Edit: the new audio eraser works well on youtube videos. I just wish there was a way to make this a default setting😢
