Samsung One UI 8.5 Official Rollout Starts May 6, 2026

Samsung is expanding the One UI 8.5 rollout to more devices, bringing the latest Galaxy AI features across the Samsung Galaxy ecosystem. The update focuses on enhancing communication and creative experiences on Galaxy mobile phones and tablets, including the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy S25 FE, Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7, Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6, Galaxy Tab S11 series and Galaxy Tab S10 series.

One UI 8.5 will begin rolling out in Korea starting May 6 with additional regions to follow.

I'm a big fan of setting the performance profile from Standard to Light for everyday use. You won't even notice the 10% CPU loss since it's not needed for normal task and you gain like 40% more battery duration for the day. I didn't have that option on my old S22 phone.

Lol, most people don't so Light mode works great for the average user. Also if you play a game it automatically goes back to Standard mode till your done with your game.

I set my Quick Share to "No One". It is now compatible with iPhone and it seems to became more active constantly seeking other devices which adds to battery drain.

The Galaxy S22 series has finally been spotted with the major One UI 8.5 firmware update. The latest build spotted today on the Checkfirm database indicates that Samsung is preparing a One UI 8.5 update for the Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra. The newly surfaced firmware confirms Samsung has started internal testing this week. It will be the last major software update for the 2022 flagship models, so it holds more value for users.

estimated official release: Tuesday 26th May in S Korea.
It will be a week or so later in rest of world.

TBH I would semi retire my S22+ but for the fact it has UWB which is great for finding Samsung Smartags.

Wipe the Cache Partition usually helps somewhat with battery drain after an update.

That no longer works with UI8 5. The option to wipe cache partition has been removed.

Yes, there are reports of One UI 8.5 battery drain on the S25 UK forum. I'm postponing the update until this bug is fixed. Typical poor software QA from a major firm - perhaps they have employed Microsft software engineers?

Wow sure enough!

One UI 8.5, Samsung officially removed the manual "Wipe cache partition" option from the Android Recovery menu. Samsung made this change because modern Android versions, specifically those with seamless (A/B) updates, now handle system cache optimization automatically during regular reboots. This renders the manual partition wipe obsolete and prevents users from accidentally selecting "Wipe data/factory reset".

Yeah - I believe though that the new enhanced audio eraser (great feature) is not on the S23s and S22s though☹️

Tip: If you ever need to reflash firmware.

So I wondered about flashing a S25FE firmware using ODIN plus ui8.5 firmware from SamFW to totally reset my phone cleanly if I ever got into an issue.

I thought I would go through the steps to check they worked but cancelling at the execution steps.

Then I ran in to a problem. I used the standard press power up & down buttons and attach usb cable (connected to pc) and to my chagrin, there was no download option.

It seems Samsung removed this for extra safety for UI8.5. After googling for a while, I finally came across the solution.

You now have to put the phone into the new Maintenance Mode first.

I was then able to get into download mode. At this point, I cancelled, rebooted and exited Maintenance Mode.
