Samsung One UI 8.5 Official Rollout Starts May 6, 2026

Samsung is expanding the One UI 8.5 rollout to more devices, bringing the latest Galaxy AI features across the Samsung Galaxy ecosystem. The update focuses on enhancing communication and creative experiences on Galaxy mobile phones and tablets, including the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy S25 FE, Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7, Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6, Galaxy Tab S11 series and Galaxy Tab S10 series.

One UI 8.5 will begin rolling out in Korea starting May 6 with additional regions to follow.

I would just lose them lol. It was just a bizarre case. I was not wearing a coat given it was 20C (heatwave for Aberdeen).

Actual sudden downpours like this are quite rare. Normally rain starts slowly then builds up.

So now I know, I will just tuck phone in shirt.

It seems Samsung are not going to release UI8.5 to S22s despite months of implying it would. Shame on Samsung.

Samsung gloss over the fact that not all UI8.5 (particularly AI based) features are available on all UI8.5 phones. All features only appear key flagship phones.

In practice all of the A phones get a cut down version e.g. the great enhanced audio eraser is only in S24 upwards plus Z phones.

Unless the missing features are of real use:confused:.

I was hoping for UI8.5 on my S22 but even if it came to that (unlikely now), it would not have the enhanced audio eraser.

Since BBC started a partnership with Disney for Doctor Who, the episodes started to get the awful American narcissistic habit of lots of "mood enhancing" background noise making foreground speech difficult to hear (especially for deaf people).

I watched the videos with the new audio eraser and it was exceptional, virtually eliminating all ridiuculous background noise. Only slight issue is beeps e,g, a warning sound also tend to get erased but you can adjust the erasure level to subdue the background noise if you prefer.

I got a new UI 8.5 update today on the S26 ultra.
It appears some of my apps are opening faster now (or maybe the eufy Video cams got updated while I was asleep?).

Haven't seen this one yet but AT&T is always slow and late with my updates. Guess I'll expect it in next few days.

I use a USB cable hooked to computer to charge and transfer files.
It doesn't seem to be charging since the update.
I checked the USB settings and they haven't changed.


Disregard... it's charging.
It wasn't updating the percentage as much as it used to, but it charged in the promised amount of minutes.

Hard to tell when charging from 94% to 100% lol

You guys also know One UI 9.0 (based on Android 17) is currently in an active open beta testing now as well.

Not ui8.5 related but an nteresting article about battery charging that largely debunks a lot of myths.

For example - It demonstrates the only charge to 80% rule is barely worth the effort. This is significant because it means you use the charging port more if only charging to 80% physically increasing wear and tear in the port.

It demonstrates fast charging does not materially impact battery life etc.

The one seemingly reasonable conclusion it came to is that when battery life drops below 80%, performance of the battery starts to deteriorate.

Having said that I have a phone that had a battery life of 80% and it is still 80% after one year. I guess the real point is to keep an eye on the battery life and replace when needed rather than setting a somewhat arbitrary criterion.

If you go to Software Update and click on Last update then All changes, it lists most of them..., some individual apps have additional subtle changes.
There is also a link at the bottom of the list where you could print a PDF of the same.
