SCI FI stuff -- anybody enjoying Foundation on (Cr)Apple TV

Hi folks
I'm sure there are some ardent Sci Fi fans around here -- How are you enjoying / not enjoying Foundation on (Cr)Apple TV. Apart from the 3 concurrent Emperors -- I think they've made a decent attempt at trying a hugely ambitious plot of attempting to put on TV the excellent and sorely missed Isaac Asimov's monumental SCI-FI trilogy - Foundation, Foundation and Empire, 2nd Foundation. Anybody who has read those books will know what I mean -- infinitely better than DUNE IMO.

I was a little unsure about it at first, but I'm hooked now!!

As is usual with TV adaptations, they deviate stories from the original. As usual WOKE changes the gender of a key character. Overall, it totally fails to convey Asimov's vision.

The whole nonsense of a building that cannot be approached is pure bs. In the books, the building is accessible but as time moves on people do not even bother turning up to his periodic appearances (after a Seldon Crisis has passed). Society has moved on.

This is the spirit of Asimov's story as the Seldon Crisis. The story is about how society develops once set on a path.

The tv series totally fails to convey the point that actually the characters are really minor bit parts over time - it is the force (and inertia) of society that is the fundamental message of the books.

In my opinion, it is a truly mediocre series if you are a fan of the books

Do yourself a real treat, and read the books if you have not read them.

Even if you have read them, it is probably years since you do. Reread them again and marvel at classic science fiction.

Contrast this mediocre effort with the far superior recent Dune film (actually only 1st half of 1st Dune book) and, apart from a bit of WOKE changing genders, the film was reasonably true to the book (although one can only put a fraction of the book's subtleties into a film). There was quite a good tv fum trilogy a while back which was pretty true to the book.

I think when I've finished watching Silo I'll have to rewatch Foundation again in preparation for season 2 as I'm pretty sure I've forgotten most of the complex storylines.

I started reading the book series again (been decades) to refresh, but it is quite different than the show in details, so I think I will watch it again too. It s quite excellent.

Also on (Cr)-apple TV -- Severance --- future worker in Manhattan office implanted with chip so when in office Brain blocks anything of world outside -- is big giant conspiracy theory -- I read the original e-book by Ling-Ma.

Silo is also a bit interesting - but deviates a bit from the book triogy.
