Seems Ms doesn't like Firefox

With the release of the Windows 11 Insider build 22509, Microsoft has reversed its decision and added a 'Set default' button that allows you to configure your default web browser quickly.

Based on the image shared by Rivery, users can now go to the 'Default apps' settings screen and click on the web browser they wish to use as the default.

Once in the browser's default settings, a new 'Set Default' button allows you to set the program as the default browser, as shown below.

I'm a Firefox fan. It works and I'm used to it and it's got better recently. Plus have a Firefox account so have my bookmarks there whichever machine I'm on. I kept reading that the new Edge is good, but to me it isn't. It is much slower - especially for downloading things. So I'm sticking with Firefox.

I think Microsoft have always nagged you to use Edge - seems the nag got slightly bigger!

Same here. I do not open Edge even to install Firefox. I have PatchMyPC on a flash drive and use it to install the usual software.

rem Download and install Firefox silently (copy and paste into cmd, without leading rem)
rem PowerShell "(New-Object System.Net.WebClient).DownloadFile('https://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-latest&os=win64&lang=en-US','%TEMP%\ff.exe'); Start-Process %TEMP%\ff.exe /s -NoNewWindow -Wait; Remove-Item %TEMP%\ff.exe"

Another trick by Microsoft.

Firefox is my default browser. To access Facebook I had shortcut on my desktop in the past.

I decided to try the Facebook App from the store and pinned it to the taskbar. If the Facebook post has a URL link it will open up Edge and not Firefox :-( I am giving up this App and going back to Firefox shortcut.

Bing search is actually very good now. At first it was terrible but now, it's just as good as Google and it's my default. I agree with Microsoft that there's no reason to use any browser but Edge. If they want to promote it, they're entitled to.

Fully agree (y)

I take the opportunity to say that Tor uses (a slightly modified) FireFox and DuckDuckGo, the latter has a primitive look to it but works well also.
