Is it possible to add through the registry simple options for me to downsize my photos, or to convert from heif/heic/png to jpg?

I've never heard of anything like that being a native auto function within the OS. I would think you would have to use an app to do that.

I'm a long time user of the best file manager in the world, Directory Opus. It has that built-in, along with countless other amazing features.
I could go on and on about what Directory Opus can do to simplify things, but I'll leave it at that.

I will prefer a shell extension over a separate app if possible..

It does not exist I guess. If you want something MS made, PowerToys have a Resize option which will come into your context menu though. Plus many more options (not image resize related) you can tailor/ignore.

ah ok to be specific, it can be a separate app as long as it can be parked in the context menu without taking up much resources. Does powertoys have the ability to convert heic to jpg for example? couldn't find that option.

Resiser that I quoted is parked in right click menu on any picture format it supports.

it only does resizing, but I need it to convert between image types too (E.g. HEIC to JPG, PNG To JPG)
