Win 7
Hi,

I am using Win-7 & haven't used any other Windows like Win-8, 8.1 OR Win-10.

I am getting a new PC. Should I go for Win-11 OR Win-10 ?

Basically what are the Pros & Cons of Win-11 ?

Thank You

Yes.. its more responsive than win 10 even though i liked 10, win 11 is faster even on "incompatible hardware".. cons are telemetry which can be turned off with something like sophiapp or O&Oshutup .. and to most ppl from win 10 on win 11 they miss standard context menu on right click which can be changed by something like this Disable "Show more options" context menu in Windows 11 Tutorial .. when yo get used to it you wont want to go back.. that was my experience at least

Did you notice any Font Size issues? I saw & heard that fonts are very tiny & when you try to enlarge them using their two tools such as Text Size and Scale, fonts get clipped. ( Meaning File & Folder names are cut in half )
That is my major concern since I use 8 Monitors & I have to be at least 4 to 5 feet away from them & that would make it hard to read text.

No its fine i didnt have any issues with make text size bigger to scale i have 1440p so it tends to be small on 100%

Hi,
Safest bet is win-10 and system image that install then use the update to 11
At least you have 10 to fall back on if you want to.

You may not get much choice. Any brand new PC you could get now should be a supported device for Windows 11, and many are now sold with 11 pre-installed by the OEM.

As you are coming from Windows 7 then you'll see little difference between 10 and 11. Both will be a big change for you. I remember that it took a good few weeks to adjust to 10 when my Windows 7 laptop got the free upgrade in 2015.

In comparison the change from 10 to 11 is relatively easy to adjust to. I have some machines on 10 and others on 11. Switching between using them is no trouble at all, in fact sometimes I forget which I'm using today and run Winver to check :ROFLMAO:

True, the stats are here:

Those on 10 may well not have any option, the hardware requirement for 11 are tough and many perfectly good W10 machines don't qualify. MS won't offer them the upgrade to 11, and you'd have to be an experience user to find and use the workarounds to install it yourself. Most would stick with 10 and only get 11 when they buy a new machine, I guess.

Hi,
11 needs third party ware to do basic things 10 can do built in so if buying a utility to do basic stuff isn't a problem go for 11
11 needs way more alteration than 10 does but both I'd highly suggest pro version of either so you can use group policy/... to do other basic stuff locally.

Actually there is no difference between the keys for 10 and 11. All keys are valid for Windows 10/11 now, and Windows 10 would get offered the free upgrade to 11 through Windows Update. No new key is needed for that.

11 needs third party ware to do basic things 10 can do built in...
If you're talking about click and drag to the Taskbar or using Groups for your apps on Start, the MS ar putting those back into 11 with the 22H2 feature update that's just about to be released.

Being as you are planning to update your hardware, even if you wanted to go with Windows 10, you would be unlikely to find a suitable system available for sale New. Windows 11 is basically Windows 10 with a new Skin [Look]. I would suggest with your situation where you have not used all the intermediary Windows versions and so will have to learn the new system it's better to go straight to Windows 11.

The look and feel of the new skin still has a lot of the same sub-systems that you will be familiar with - there are software packages that allow you to make Windows 11 appear and mostly run as Windows 7, but I would suggest that you only go this way if you are really struggling, its a better route to "take the pain " of learning the new ways of working as this will improve the usability of the new system

Actually there is no difference between the keys for 10 and 11. All keys are valid for Windows 10/11 now, and Windows 10 would get offered the free upgrade to 11 through Windows Update. No new key is needed for that.
Any reason why Bill is doing that ? It does cost him to develop a new OS like Win-11 ?
OR just because he is giving away most of his wealth anyway ?
