Show off your internet speed!

I pay a 3rd of that for roughly 1/3rd of speed, but it really is law of diminishing returns,

I can download a 5GB iso in just over 40 seconds (,big improvement over 40 minutes it use to take for almost as much cost).

I really am not prepared to pay 3 times as much to get that down to say 15 seconds.

My experience is many websites now become the bottleneck i.e. they cannot serve the files as fast as you can download.
Totally agree.
My contract with the ISP a few years ago was for 15Mb/s. Never had problems with streaming or downloads.
The other ISPs (competitors) began to offer higher speed for the same price so my ISP upgraded mine to 30, 60, 120, 240, 350 and finally 500 Mb/s with the same price (I pay US$ 20 for 500Mb/s)

And for the most downloads, the bottleneck isn't the connection, it is the server.

Yes but to get the above 1g speeds throughout your network you need multi-gig switches. I don't simply connect one machine via ethernet. My AT&T Gateway only has ONE 2.5 g port so I run that to a multi-gig compatible wireless router.

ADSL2+? That was what I had for download in 2013, shortly before VTel switched me over to FTTH. For actual download and upload speeds I got with ADSL2+, it was up to 15 Mb down and 768 Kbps up. It used to take forever to upload HD videos to YouTube, LOL.
The download speed of their ADSL2+ was up to 24 Mbps, but I never confirmed seeing 24 Mbps on my end, even with stuff looking good on my end.

Looks like I win the prize for the slowest internet connection on the planet. Still, it is faster than Dial-Up was.

In some locations there is still free internet at 5 down and 1 up.

Comcast/Xfinity just gave us a "free" upgrade. No doubt to distract from their latest price increases. Doubled my upload speed for what it's worth. My previous and new speeds

I also got a boost in the uploads but. since I have a 1Gig line, I guess the downloads are just about right.
1000Mb/s = 125MB/s. When downloading games from Steam I usually get 109 to 112 MB/s

Back in 2001 when I first got high-speed Internet it was 1.5Mbps. They said it was up to 50 times faster than Dial-Up. The fastest Dial-Up I had was about 40Kbps which sounds about right. Note 56Kbps was only theoretical so 30-40Kbps was normal. Hopefully your Internet connection is a lot faster than that.
Mine's about half that. But, I'm in Australia and my area doesn't have FTTP yet. I'm FTTN then copper to the house. We won't get fibre in our suburb (in the far south of Tasmania) until March next year. Was supposed to be March just gone. but they're slow af. By that time I won't really care as I'll have StarLink. I'm classed as rural for them to qualify for it.
With what I'm paying for my crappy speeds it's not much of a jump paying a few dollars extra for StarLink. Just need to save up for the refurbished hardware. I have 5 months, as I'm on a special 6 month offer with my current ISP.

Pre-built with RGB fans. I hate RGB (except my keyboard) but as it was a ready-to-ship it was cheaper than a full custom build.
Don't worry, my previous PC I built myself (Win 7). This time I couldn't be bothered.

Previous system. Now only used for Skyrim LE as it doesn't work on Windows 11. Well, it kind of did but the script extender didn't. Something in Win 11 kept blocking it, no matter what I changed. So I gave up.
