Hi folks
Forget Rufus etc -- if you need to make a Windows to go system or even several systems just create a bog standard single EFI partition on the external device, then create as many VHDX files (via create diskpart --create vdisk) as you want for windows systems etc -- leave enough over though for paging etc.

Then simply attach the vdisk, use dism /Apply-Image to install your system, run bcdboot to install the bootloader to the efi partition - and it's all done.
Note : For NEW installs.

You can by fiddling around capture a current image with FFU etc - but installing clean is fine. On modern hardware overhead of using vhdx (physical files) is so minimal you won't notice it - and you can have loads of different windows builds on the disk (all activated so long as your original windows is activated) - great way of testing various builds - and for backup just copy the relevant vhdx file.

Cheers
