Since upgrade to Win11 restart doesn't work

When I try to restart my system the desktop blinks and flickers but doesn't restart. I have had to shut down whenever I have to do a restart.

Maybe I misunderstood your question? It seems you are asking about fixing Windows 11 not restarting? The links provided answer that question. One of the links suggest downloading a 3rd party app, but then goes on to explain how to fix manually. We suggest not using a 3rd party app; to fix this problem and just using the Manual fix.

Your computer specs say you have a 7th gen CPU which is not supported by Windows 11.
How did you install ?
I know there are ways to bypass but, if you did, which one did you use ?

See turning off Fast Startup will help solve your problem.

To disable Fast Startup on Windows 11, open Control Panel System > Hardware and Sound > Power Options > Choose what the power button does, click on “Change settings that are currently unavailable,” turn off “Fast Startup,” and click “Save.”

I did change it I have a 19 12 gen

In order to change this setting, you need to click where it says "Change settings that are currently unavailable" as in the below screenshot.

Please be certain to try this. I believe it highly likely that you will find that this resolves the issue.

How did you find the software problematic?

Another option is to run this Microsoft troubleshooter using ACP:

msdt.exe -id PowerDiagnostic

If available click view detailed information.

Sure no problem.
I have always liked the start button on Win 7 better than any other version of Windows so StarDock has a program called Start 11, they have one for Win 10 called Start 10. when installed the start menu not the button it's self looks like Win 7 start menu. You can chose several options on how you want the start menu to look like. It's a nice program but I had a feeling it might have something to do with my issue since it started after I installed it. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and since then I have not had the issue. Below is what the start menu looks like for me I chose this style.

You might want to see if this program has had an update recently
to maybe prevent with future discomforts.

For me, I tried this one but , did not work as intended on my notebook
so, I went with SatrtAllBack which, is almost the same but, works great
with my install.

StartAllBack restores taskbar, start menu, context menus, explorer, sanity, style and order!

Thanks I will check if there are updates which I do for all my programs or apps anyway. I'm just hoping the problem is resloved if not I will look into the program you suggested.

I use Open-Shell previously Classic Shell. it does the same thing as StartAllBack and It works well in Windows 11 and there is a new update today.

The only reason I have StartAllback is because of the Task Bar, I have been using the task bar on
the top of the screen since well, I can't remember now but, a very long time. This does give me the
option to put it back where it belongs.
