Hi folks
Amazing the devices the Chinese come up with -- I found a small hand held car 12V jump battery starter that's easily charged up from a bog standard laptop mains USB charger (loads of modern laptops seem to use the mains->USB charging systems these days). I only mention this on the Windows Forum here as I know loads have cars and in winter batteries sometimes get flat and jump starting is often a pain with 2 carrs needed and long jump leads. This device can be charged via a 5V 1 or 2 Amp usb charger which almost all laptops seem to use rather than the traditional mains power supply socket. Note you can also charge phones and laptops from this device if you are in an area with no power supply access or it's down.
€30 !!! -- already used 3 times -for friends cars -- in cold climates flat batteries aren't uncommon !!!!!
Very portable - !!!! and can also be used to charge mobile phones or even laptops when power is out !!!
Cheers

You must have gotten one that was defective or not properly charged. I have two so that I can have one in both of my vehicles. I have used both of them at different times to jump V-8 engines and they worked perfectly. With todays vehicles having sensitive computers and circuits I won't jump a vehicle by using another vehicle. It's not worth the risk.
My best similar buy is a rechargeable tyre inflator as it is so compact. Much less hassle than the type that plugs into the car's cigarette lighter sockets.
I have a Maplin power adapter that can output voltages between 12V and 20V with loads of adaptor plugs. It can be mains fed or fed from a car battery and I use it to power my internet modem-router in the case of a blackout.
I also have a similar one.. I have used that one over 20 times.
But no one have mention they are darn good powerbanks too. I have used mine for that during two power outages.. both for charging my phone but also to use a small USB LED lamp.
