Solved Small window drops to lower left corner when on sites like Facebook.

I have very bad hearing and most always cannot hear speech and when moving down a page and a small window falls down to the lower left corner of my screen it it often covers what I want to read and is nothing but a pest. Is there a way to stop this from happening? I am using Brave browser now but other browsers do the same thing. I am thinking that it might be a Chromium function. Any ideas or info?

I don't have Facebook anymore so I had to find a video that was free to watch without an account.

When you mouse over a video, you will see a symbol at the bottom - Image 1
If you click that symbol, the video will un-dock from its position (as seen in image 2)
To re-dock the video, see image 2

You will need to click the following symbol (double expand arrow symbol) to re-dock the video - image 2

If this is happening automatically without you clicking on the symbol in image one, I or someone else will have to check in the Facebook video settings for a switch that may be causing it. I could ask my wife if she would mind me checking hers.

This is not a Facebook only problem. Here is one from me surfing for news. The same thing happens in Edge, Chrome, Brave and DuckDuckGo. and I would like to find a way to stop it from happening.

This is the Picture in Picture (PiP) window displaying the currently playing video. Many websites do that, if you scroll the page down, they continue playing in a small PiP window so you won't miss the video. Normally you can click on the border and move the windows elsewhere (aka drag 'n' drop), so it doesn't get in the text you are trying to read.

I watch videos on Facebook regularly and see the same window the OP is seeing. It doesn't happen with every video, but it does happen often. I don't know why it continues to display, but to get rid of it, I just click on the "X" in the upper right corner of the small window. Then it just goes away. I find it also annoying that you have to enable the sound with every video you want to watch.

If your really only interested in the videos, just click on the "Video" button in the top banner. Then the junk on the right goes away and just videos are displayed. In this mode, the little popup window doesn't happen. I find this a better mode because once you enable the sound on one video, it's enabled on all subsequent videos.

I have been thru all the suggestions and it seems that I am going to have to live with it. This not the first time I have tried to find a way to rid of the small window dropping down and over the last few days I spent a lot of time looking thru the browser settings.

Hi again. As a suggestion, open copilot and ask it the following question. Also with the question, attach the image you provided.
Reason being, there is mention of using an ad-blocker (as well as other options) and we can’t discuss ad-blockers on this forum.

On any website with video and using any browser in Windows 11, the videos un-dock when I scroll and they appear at the bottom right or left of the window. As it’s happening on every website in every browser, is it a setting in Windows 11. Please see attached image. The undocked video is in the bottom right corner

Which browser are you using? I am using Microsoft Edge. Searching in Google I found this solution:

To disable Picture-in-Picture (PIP) in Microsoft Edge, navigate to edge://settings/system and then to the "Site permissions" section. Under "All permissions", find and select "Automatic picture-in-picture" and toggle the switch to the off position. This will disable the automatic PIP feature in Edge.

Surely there is a similar setting for Chrome and Firefox, just Google "disable PiP your_browser" to find it.

It is not a bug, it is a feature - Picture in Picture - you can disable it per browser.

I did see this suggestion in copilot but the thoughts were that as the undocking isn’t technically PiP, it may only work in some browsers and on some sites. But it’s a great suggestion

I am falling in love with Copilot. Post #11 was very helpful.
Brave has been notified that some us do not like the PIP action and apparently does not care.
Blocking Picture in Picture

I used Firefox for decades and do not remember why I moved to Edge a couple years ago but too often when there is an shortcut to another page Edge brings up a warning page suggesting you return to the page you came from but has a shortcut allowing one to proceed and the Edge people need to work further on it. As such several weeks I decided to try Brave.

I used the info in post # 12 above and am happy with the change in Edge.

I may decide to try another browser for my default but will not hurry to do so.
