Snipping Tool stopped working

Win11
Up until a day or so ago, Shft-Win-S brought up the Snipping Tool and activated it, so I could grab a section of the screen and have a snapshot of it saved to the clipboard.

Now, when I click Shft-Win-S, I got a busy cursor for a second or so, and that's it. No indication of it being ready for me to select an area, nothing.

If I manually open the app, and click the New button, the app window disappears, I get a busy cursor for a second, and then nothing. I can see the app on the taskbar (presumably minimised), and if I click it, I just get the window back up.

I tried repairing and resetting the app, but didn't help.

Anyone any ideas? Thanks

Hate to say this, but I had the same problem a year or so ago, and I fixed it with an in-place upgrade install. See tutorials. It's easy, actually.

Yeah, but quite destructive. I'll see if I can find a less destructive way first, and will resort to that only if I get stuck.

Thanks, but none of them helped.

Hi,

From powershell, please enter this command:

Get-AppxPackage MicrosoftWindows.Client.Core -AllUsers | Reset-AppxPackage <enter>
When I entered that, I got the following...

Reset-AppxPackage : Package was not found.
Windows cannot remove MicrosoftWindows.Client.Core_1000.22633.1000.0_x64__cw5n1h2txyewy because the current user does
not have that package installed. Use Get-AppxPackage to see the list of packages installed.

I would paste in the output of Get-AppxPackage but there was wads of it. Please let me know if it wold be useful.

Thanks to all of you, any other ideas?

Hi MrYossu,
I am sorry and a little surprised that didn't work.
Since you have tried resetting the app, I would now attempt to uninstall it and reinstall it from the store after you have rebooted.

OK, thanks for the suggestion. I'll have to wait to reboot, too busy now. Will let you know how I get on.

Thanks again
