snipping tool with MP4 file

I downloaded a movie using the snipping tool.
The output is a MP4 file.
When I try to run the movie I get the following error.
We can not open the TEST_2025 .
This is because the file extension is incorrect or the file is corrupt
error code = 0xc00d36c4
I tried to copy several movies with the same results.

What are you opening .mp4 with? Does this happen for all .mp4, or just your snipping tool videos?

I have no problem opening mine with the Media Player.

Error 0xc00d36c4 is an unrecognized stream, like you don't have the right video decoder.
What kind of movie was this? Is it protected by DRM?

What exactly do you mean by 'copied movies'? Attempting to snip playback of DRM protected material can cause problems.

You mentioned that it might be protected by DRM.
Is there any way to check if it protected by DRM?
Could there be a file size limit?
The File size is 2.42 GB

If the movie is from a streaming service like Amazon, Hulu, NetFlix, etc. or played from a DVD -- it's got DRM copy protection.

No, there's no file size limit for a video snip.

There's much talk on DRM blocking video screen snips with the snipping tool or any video capture tool, such as this.....
