Today I noticed one strange thing... I have found some services I didn't know in the registry and didn't show up with a classic sc queryex type=service state=all :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\EneIo (ImagePath="\??\C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\ene.sys"
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSIO (ImagePath="\??\C:\Program Files\Galaxy\Aac_GALAX GAMER RGB\msio64.sys")
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\FirstBoot\Services\EneIo
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\FirstBoot\Services\MSIO

Q1: Why they don't appear in the list with other Services, not even using AutoRuns?
Q2: Am I right assuming that drivers under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\FirstBoot\... are loaded during Windows boot even before the user logs in?

I concluded they were installed by Aura Core or Aura Sync (I have an ASUS gaming laptop with RGB keys...), even if not used by my specific HW.
Browsing my Program Files I think I also found another unknown RGB (?) driver by the way:

Code:
C:\PROGRAM FILES\WD
└───Aac_WD P40 Game Drive
    ├───x64
    │ AacHal_x64.dll
    │
    └───x86
            AacHal_x86.dll

How can I disable/remove these useless drivers/services safely?

Any driver with IO, (Input Ouput) and HAL (hardware abstract Layer) in their names are not loaded at user login but are when windows boots, as you correctly assumed. They are not user controlled. They can be removed at your own risk. Backup please.
WD is probably a portable Western Digital device. The others need further investigation.
I do have an RGB keyboard and don't see those on my Asus.
Why is it so important for you to remove them?
If you decide to do so, do it with this:

Ah, yeah, the good old rapr application to remove/backup/install (old) drivers, good idea...
Why? Well, no real reason but for example Win 11 complains some of them are "unsafe" after reboot if you enabled extra safety option "Core Isolation" (even though I also found this feature prevents undervolting through ThrottleStop which is undesirable on thin laptops!):

It's Mslo64.sys right? not msio64.sys.
That one can be taken out, it is Aura Galaxy but is no longer necessary.
Aura is such a mess and was so poorly implemented.

MSIO service stuff (DDR RGBs indeed, I don't have on this laptop of course):

HINT:
just found that with Autoruns from the Everything tab you can actually safely disable/enable also EneIo and MSIO "Firstboot services" deselecting Hide Windows Entries from menu, since "ene.sys" for example was signed by Microsoft, hence hidden.

It can even be run from the command line with autorunsc.
I strongly recommend WSCC if you are into nerdy things like most of us in this forum.

Right, could be useful for sys admins on remote machines upgraded to Win 11.
Didn't know WSCC, thanks.
