My wife has a lot of relatives in Arizona, so we go there a lot. I decided it would be interesting to visit Kitt Peak Observatory. I drove to it and couldn't find it, but then discovered it was on top of the mountain I was next too.

I went on the day tour. They had one of the largest sun telescopes. They take you into a room with a very large (10-15ft) round table and on the table is the sun. It was unbelievable to see the sun close up.

They also had a night program which I went on. I got so involved checking out the night sky that all of a sudden I realized the sun was rising.

They still have day & night tours, but there is a charge now. It was free when I went there many years ago.
