Solved 'Standard' user doesn't need to press 'Enter' key to sign-in?

Both my Windows machines have Windows 11 23H2, Build 22631.4460 installed.

On both machines I notice that I (Administrator) need to press the Enter key after I type in my PIN before Windows will begin the sign in process into my local account.

On both machines I notice that my wife (Standard user) does not need to press the Enter key after typing in her PIN. After typing in the final character of her PIN Windows immediately starts the sign in process to her local account.

I only noticed this recently but it may have always been like that. Is this normal behaviour?

I've never had to press Enter when entering a PIN. Only for password.

Thank you - I switched from using PWs to using a PIN on 21st July 2024 so could it be a carry-over behaviour from that time? Maybe that is when it started happening but that is just a guess.

I have run the well-known tuneup.bat file and everything reports as okay.

It would be good if there is a fix.

You could try changing your PIN to see if it may start not requiring to press Enter afterwards if a glitch.

Two Notebooks, one 23H2 and newest 24H2, during setup did not ask for a password but did ask for a PIN, after last number type open, no other prompting. Both with Microsoft Account. Another, older, Notebook with Local Account no Password or PIN does not need to click Open on Restart.

I think it depends on whether letters and symbols are allowed in a particular user's PIN:
