Windows 11 LTSC IOT 24H2 build 26100.1150
I am currently on windows 11 LTSC IOT and want to get my toolbars back on the task bar.
I'm not really interested in changing the start menu itself, I have grown accustom to using the windows 11 stock start menu and ok with using it.
What I DO want to use is the windows 10 toolbars on the taskbar, but windows 11 took that ability away, so I am looking fo a program that will let me get that back.

I was sifting thru these forums and noticed a post that states startallback will bring the toolbars back to windows 11, can anyone confirm this?

I have tried explorer patcher and it informs me that it won't work on LTSC IOT version of windows 11, so that's not an option sadly.

So if startallback will indeed bring that option back, is it possible to use the stock windows 11 start menu instead of using the startallback start menus?

It will (should on your build.. not 100% positive as I don’t use that version), granted you don’t update to 24h2 build. Free to try…

What about using stock windows 11 start menu still?

So as much as I wanna make this work it is wonky. Using pin to start works via using the start menu search, but using the cortona search then pin to start does not work
I also cannot find a way to use stock windows start menu

I could deal with even the startall back modified windows 11 menu but as I said the pin to start doesn't work throughout the system.

After installation, right click start button > properties > that’ll open SAB settings. Under start > disable the SAB start menu

Nice info. I just bought a copy. I am thoroughly impressed at this. I at first was kinda confused on stuff, but took one forums post and I couldn't be happier!

Just so you know, StartAllBack is completely dickered on Insider 26244, not that you're going there, but, just a heads-up.

Probably never be on insider at all.

So it doesn't work at all or just partially works? just so I'm on the lookout and prepared for it down the road, because whats in the insider typically and for the most part ends up being in the official update/release at some time

The main thing I want is the ability to have windows 10 taskbar abilities, like adding toolbars. I've tried like a madman to find an alternative way, but nothing works like I want it to.

Pinning to taskbar is wonky as all hell, as it opens the program right beside the pinned icon, so you have file manager, pinned file manager, web browser, pinned web browser, in a line, drives me batty seeing it like that.

Not sure why ms decided to remove that feature but there are a lot of people that are not happy with the decision.

I use toolbars a lot, mainly quicklaunch and another gaming toolbar I set up for my games. If MS ever removes he ability of 3rd party programs not to be able to use them, such as startallback, and explorerpatcher, I don't care how awesome, how lightweight, how useful it is, I will go back to windows 10 and deal with it being end of life before I use 11, even with the no support.

Just as a side note, if anyone has any ideas as a workaround or another way of doing something similar to this in windows 11 I'm open to new ideas

As far as I know there is still no SAB update. Because of the bugs in SAB I rolled my 2 desktops back to build 26241 and turned off updates. I'm not sure what I'm going to do when the next Canary build is released.

Partially, half the elements are missing in the SAB UI, on 26244.
I want is the ability to have windows 10 taskbar abilities...

Me neither!

I tried 3.7.10 and 3.7.11 on 26244, no go!

So the taskbar part still works?
I use some of the other stuff but tbh the 10 task bar is pretty much all I use, so if that works I'm good to go. I hope it still works

I've been hunting for a different way in case they just all out block everything but so far no go.

I'd even use pin to taskbar if it worked correctly. It's all outta whack and not uniform, like ALL over the place with stuff and how it opens and works. It's a hot mess.
I present exhibit A:

As you'll see the hd shortcut and file explorer shortcut I pinned with all the others both of those are all out of whack and out of alignment, it's just not uniform like using the toolbar is.

Why MS why!?!? who thought this was a good idea?!?!?!?!?!?

I had the same problem, knowing that StartAllBack (SAB) would disable the Windows10 taskbar (at least for the beginning) and found a solution that is independant of SAB. A different method is used to open folders and programs in about the same way as the old Quick Launch bar did. This is a description:

1. Create a separate folder somewhere (free of choice) and name it Quick Launch (or any other name that you like).

2. Copy shortcuts to folders and programs (that you would like to have as Quick Launch like starts) into that folder.

3. Shortcuts to folders must be provided in the 'target' box with the additional command C:\Windows\explorer.exe
So for the D:\documents folder the shortcut becomes:
C:\Windows\explorer.exe D:\documents
After that those shortcuts on the taskbar, if clicked, will open in a separate 'window' on the taskbar.

4. Shortcuts to programs require an additional, very tiny program. That can be downloaded from:
- Go all the way to the bottom of that page
- Click "Download NirCmd 64-bit"
- Unzip the file
- Copy the nircmd.exe file to the Windows (system) folder

5. Now change the shortcuts of the programs so that the 'target' is preceded by: "C:\Windows\nircmd.exe exec hide"
This would be, for example, for Firefox:
C:\Windows\nircmd.exe exec hide "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"
After that those shortcuts on the taskbar, if clicked, will open in a separate 'window' on the taskbar.

Now you can right-click on "Pin to taskbar" and "Pin to taskbar", then slide the icons on the taskbar into the desired order.

From then on, symbols pinned to the taskbar in this way will open in a separate taskbar button. If you have the taskbar settings set to 'never combine', they will appear separately next to it, with text.

Example in my system:
002068.jpg

I personally use Start11 (also paid software, but also not expensive) because of the SAB problem, did not want to wait until its developer will fix that. That was about 2 month ago, when nothing was known about SAB having future plans for that. So I still have a small taskbar, even in 24H2. If SAB brings me advantages in future, I will go back to that utility (I have a multi-licence for it).

BTW. As my native language is Dutch and my system is in that language, I was not able to check if all translated words in the description are right. If any doubt, please ask!

MEH, stupid stupid MS. They got sued for this kinda crap back in the day when they integrated internet explorer into windows, but now no one is doing anything and MS is just going hog wild on anything they deem necessary *sigh*

So ok I kinda have it down.
I copied all the stuff that I wanna use just like in the quicklaunch folder in 10, and my shortcut for Firefox currently shows as follows C:\Windows\explorer.exe "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"

I also get copying the nircmd to windows\system

This is where I kinda get confused, are you saying change the target line from C:\Windows\explorer.exe "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" so it says C:\Windows\nircmd.exe exec hide "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"? or is it suposed to still have the explorer.exe at the beginning??

Does Start11 have the windows 10 taskbar?

Update: I just looked at some pics, it's missing the add toolbar on the taskbar sadly

So I tried what you said but still the same issue, file explorer gets moved to the right.

I have firefox then file explorer from left to right, and when I open firefox it pushes file explorer pinned icon to the right, resulting when I open file explorer while firefox is also open, you see the small pinned icon in the middle.
If file explorer stayed put and didn't move, and firefox opened to the right of the pinned file explorer, then it would be uniform like with the windows 10 task bar.

As it stands if you have your pinned programs in the wrong order you get the jumbled mess like in the pic I posted, and this pic as well, so it's still a hot mess without a 3rd party app to enable windows 10 task bar.
