Good afternoon,

I'm really having a hard tome trying to figure out why my volume keeps going up and own in play or record. i have check all my settings in both windows and goldwave and they are good. stereo mix setup currently. i'm using a hp envy desktop running win 11 home 24H2. i'm at my wites end as i don't know what to do to current this issue. realtek drive is 6.0/9794.1. can someone please help i do alot of recording and this problem is a big hussle. Thank You David

Have you tried to uninstall the audio drivers, restart and reinstall them? You can also keep the audio volume constant with Sound Lock utility:

yes i did try to uninstall the drive but when i restarted it was restored. i don't know how to completely unistall it. and i nerev hear anything about sound lock.

I mean to uninstall the application (such as Realtek HD audio driver) from Settings, Apps, Installed Apps.

i did remove the realtek software from the start menu. i have no option to delete the driver in device manger. i can disable it or uninstall the device. windows says i have the latest driver 6.0.9794.1 for hp envy. doesn't matter which software program i use goldwave, audacity etc. the volume is still going up and down.

Hi yes i tried sound lock same result. i believe it's a windows issue but i don't know how to correct it unless i do a clean install in which i don't believe that will fix it.

Check the speakers cable. Maybe it has a loose contact. Disconnect and reconnect the speakers on the sound card. Use another pair of speakers or headphones and compare results.

You have 4 things here related to audio:
1. Realtek.
2. Overlay app/mirroring device provided by HP.
3. Windows settings.
4. Goldwave/Audacity or whatever.
The one most likely to have the automatic volume control on both playback and recording is 2. The Overlay App/mirroring device
This HP Overlay App/mirroring device will provide most of the features/functionality for a basic Realtek audio chip. A plethora of settings.
What is this App.
