Cannot install 22H2. I have tried everything listed in other posts including antivirus disabled, sfc /scannow, W11 health check, checked device drivers, etc. I have tried running from an ISO but I still crash out at 90%. I have attached the failure message. It all points toward a driver issue but Device Manager all looks good. Not sure where to go now. Can anyone advise please?

I do not believe this is a device driver issue.

From another forum:* and not from me:

"had same problem. In my case migrate_data errors were caused by filenames in my music library. If you have filenames with question mark or some other wildchar in it, then MIGRATE_DATA will fail (chkdsk c: /F by renaming them, or deleting files). Also folder names ending with dot are big NO for Windows, . Hope this helps."

I suggest you go to C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\Panther\setuperr.log file (can be open with Notepad), search from end of the file. If problems are with filenames or permissions, then those filenames are listed there.

This is a tough one because it is data related, so something is preventing the transfer of yourdata -your personal files & even maybe your registry hive-.
You are not using any kind of file locker by any chance?
I am sorry I am thinking as I am typing this.

Thanks for the reply OAT. I already tried chkdsk and no errors were reported.
I just checked the setuperr log and there are 60 errors of different types that are beyond me. Is there anything specific I should be looking for because I know Windows generates hundreds of errors that are not important. It is what the online scammers take people to to scare them into allowing remote login to "fix" it all.

I think you could try to link in & attach some parts of the log that contain errors so we can all have a look and try to solve this for you.

I would take a backup of my data and then delete some of it to avoid the issue. Another possibility is that you may don't have enough free space in your disk and moving your data fails. Is your computer fully compliant with Windows 11? This means at least 8th generation Intel Core i3/i5/i7 CPU or at least 2nd generation AMD Ryzen CPU, at least 4GB RAM, UEFI mode installation (manufacturer logo with spinning dots at startup, not the blue Windows logo), TPM 2.0 enabled in UEFI firmware, Secure Boot enabled and a graphics card either onboard or discreet with WDDM 3.0 drivers. If your computer is not fully compliant you must bypass compatibility check, see respective thread. In version 22H2 an additional requirement is to disconnect from the internet before upgrading (if you upgrade from an earlier version) to prevent online compatibility check and Windows Update messing with your working drivers. I would also disable Antivirus (including Windows Defender) and any non-Microsoft services and startup applications to avoid anything interfering with the installation process. All is described in the respective thread.

I'm still here. I was away from home for 2 days.
I have attached the setuperr that you mentioned. As previously stated, I have no idea what it all means so it would be great if you could look at it to see if there is anything untoward that is causing this problem. If you recall, the error is INVALID DATA ACCESS TRAP but I have no idea if anything in this log points towards that.
As regards to the question of compatibility, W11 originally installed with no issues.

Welcome back friend!
That error INVALID DATA ACCESS TRAP I did get after running one of those 3rd party disk cleaner which wiped out some content
of my WinSxS. Subsequently the new build failed to install giving me this error.
Using Dism would fail even with an install.wim file present.
The only solution was to install a new build from UUPDUMP

No need to use UUP, just download the official Windows 11 ISO, mount it (Open with File Explorer) and run Setup to do an in-place upgrade repair. It won't be the latest build, but then you can run Windows Update to get there. Avoid any obscure tools noone has heard about. Even the well known CCleaner can do damage if you don't know what you are doing.

Thank you @spapakons
I referred the OP to UUPDump site because not all dev builds have .iso but you are right since this is an official release,
do not bother building the ISO, it takes longer.
This said UUPDUMP has fixed issues that MS ISO didn't (in Insider Dev anyway) and I think @sydh mentioned he had used the ISO already.

Do you have any other USB peripheral connected other than the mouse and keyboard?

If you have any connected devices remove them all except the keyboard and mouse of course. After installation completes successfully you may reconnect them.

I'm still here. I had a video project to publish so I didn't want to risk the PC going down.
I had one USB drive connected but I have disconnected that and tried again but I still get INVALID DATE ACCESS TRAP. I'm running out of ideas.

Hello, sorry you are still dealing with this.
Is it INVALID DATA ACCESS TRAP or MIGRATE DATA ACCESS TRAP?
This might refer to a service or a program starting at boot, still running, preventing the move.
What do you have that launches at startup? Might consider disabling everything.

I have just updated 4 drivers using MS Update/advanced option/optional updates. I also uninstalled Media Player as suggested on another website. Tried 22H2 again and I still get INVALID DATA ACCESS TRAP and as it was about to recover, it came up with a second blue screen MEMORY1 INITIALIZATION FAILED. No idea why the second error. When it appeared I expected the recovery to fail but it proceeded as normal and returned the PC back to it's initial settings.
To recap, I have tried the following:
Uninstall Media Player.
Disconnected all USB peripherals.
Disabled Kaspersky.
Run a CHKDSK /f/r.
Run 22H2 from ISO.
Checked Device Manager for driver updates.

It's a shame Windows update doesn't say more about the reason for installation failure. Seems to be a common complaint.
I'm reluctant to approach a local computer repair shop because they will probably just clean install Windows, wiping out all my software, which last time took around 16 hours to reinstall and configure.

Here is the list. Quite scary as I don't know what some of them are. I didn't think this would matter because the update fails before PC Startup.

I have never seen such a long list and I won't tell you how many years I have been working on Windows.
If I were you, I would disable everything that is not Microsoft and even those are optional. (Reboot afterward & try to update)
I am not saying it is the cause, but some apps have been known to prevent proper installation and your failure occurs @ 90%.
