Just upgraded to new MK850 keyboard and mouse which works fine until I plug a portable drive into my RSHTECH nub from which point I lose all connevtion to both KB and the mouse. Any ideas as I can transfer files at the moment?

TIA

Did you use the USB hub to connect both keyboard/mouse transmitter/receiver and your portable drive on the same USB-port of your computer?

I would not dare to do so, always take another USB port on the computer for that. It's a combination that you should avoid!

Unless you would have only one USB connector (likely on some laptops), but in that case you can control the device by the built-in keyboard.

It's more than likely power related. If the hub is connected to a usb 2.0 port, try using a usb 3 port as it provides slightly more power. When connecting multiple devices to a hub, it's always recommended to use a powered hub as bus power is not always sufficient to carry the power demands of multiple devices connected to it.

Thanks for the responses. I think you are correct as I do have another drive connected to the PC and that seems OK. My hub is powered but I don't know if it's a USB 2 or 3.

It doesn't matter if the hub is usb2 or usb3. A usb3 port is backward compatible and will run devices connectd to a usb2 hub at usb2 speed. USB2 ports carry 500 mA. Usb3 ports carry 900 mA. But you say your hub is using external power. Possibly you power adapter has gone bad and is not providing enough power to the hub.
