Updated Windows to 22H2 about a week ago on both my machines and has been okay up until today when I see gaps in the icon spacing on the taskbar. I have tried restarting but the gaps remain. This happens on both machines. There are two user profiles on both machines and the gap appears on both profiles. The position of the gap varies with profile and machine. See photo.

Is anyone else seeing this?
Is there a fix?

Thanks.

Looks like you have apps that are not loaded correctly or have been uninstalled and left in the system tray manager.
Right click the taskbar and select taskbar settings, select "Other system tray icons" and start there by disabling potential culprits.

@Yosemite - Thanks. I discovered that the gap is in fact the WhatsApp icon but it has a completely black face so it blends in with the taskbar and looks like a gap. How do I know this? I hovered my mouse cursor over it and the text showed 'WhatsApp desktop'.

I saw that MS Store had updated the WhatsApp app yesterday so this update has probably caused it. I unpinned the 'black' icon and repinned WhatsApp back on the taskbar and everything is okay now. Gap is gone. Phew!

Unfortunately that does not work for me nor the changing a them - which I did and then restarted - the Apps are actually "on" the Task bar as it were but the image is not shown.
