Hi folks

What are (or is) the current version(s) of Ms teams. (Free version)
There seem to be a few different ones with not the same options etc.

On Linux I'm using : " You have Microsoft Teams Version 1.5.00.10453 (64-bit)" (Yes Ms do provide a Free Linux version) - works perfectly.

This has from account management -- Devices, Make a test call etc where you can check video, microphone, speakers/headphones etc.

On Windows none of these options appears

Anybody able to "De-confuse me". Note talking about Free versions, not any included with Office/365 etc.

cheers

I am totally baffled by MS versions of Teams myself. The app settings part means I have no way to access webcam/sound setting within the app!!
Of teams there are two possible versions you can download for Windows, Home/free, Purple 'T' on White background, version 22096.500.1284.8893, Whilst Work/School version 1.5.00.11163, White 'T' on Purple background!

Now I can login to 'Home' version with my Skype credentials, but not to Work/School. If you try you get automatically transferred to back to home version!

Even thought it says MS account can be used on Work/School version!

So at the moment Skype is by far the better app for me to cope with ...

Colour could be Violet... ;-)

Edit to include version numbers for for sanity sake!

I agree with you but some work places are using Teams and if you do remote working a lot you "have to have it" even though for non work stuff I use ZOOM.

@PenPusher as above sometimes you have to use what "corporate" apps are required for you to get work done.

I gave up with this on Windows and downloaded the Linux "Preview" version. Now when you get an invite and you use firefox for the link (Browser not supported by Ms --What a surprise !!! ) -- the browser pulls in the "Preview" desktop version and the meeting originator can admit you. You can also make a Test call with - manage account -->devices--> make test call so that you can check camera and microphone together with headphones / speakers are working. How in the world are you meant to check all is working on the standard version.

Mind you it's still a mess when you DO get an invite as there's no obvious place to "Join Meeting" either but it "happens" . For anybody not decently knowlegable with Computers -- Hopeless. !!

I'm messing about with this because an old friend in the UK got a "Police Candid Camera photo" for speeding and elected for a "Speed awareness course" ???? Whatever that is -- to avoid Court appearance and penalty points on his driving license -- Online thing requiring Teams which he's never used before !!!

What a Dogs dinner (more like a Wolf's Dinner) in setting this up -- Zoom is so much easier -- but as we all know Govts / Public sector around the world makes even a simple I.T application like a mega expensive highly complex operation.

It's just as bad on a MAC (Apple) computer -- loads of people use those as well. !!!

However all sorted now as we both got Ms Edge installed on Linux and the online links work !!!
I think not even Wolfs Dinner But a Tyranosaurus Rex's dinner . Online Browser version working OK with Edge. - I'm not installing Google Chrome - thankyou very much. !!!!!!!
