Hi folks

I'm using an Eng version of Thunderbird as a test on a new system.

Trying to set up an account it fails because it won't accept icelandic chars. Perhaps Thunderbird is a victim of the old "Cod Wars " and is taking revenge !!!

Anyway this is what Thunderbird throws up : (part of server address contains these : ðar.is

This is just bonkers -- say I was on temporary assignment in Turkey or Georgia (not the US state) and had an Eng laptop but needed to add an account in those places --- What does one do !!! -- surely any official language should work - especially if Thunderbird itself can be installed in those languages.

Also using the English (GB) version, and the advanced fonts pop-up is not working correctly. There is nothing there except OK and cancel. The options should appear there. See screenshot.

Hi there

Bon apres-midi

I suppose it works if you add a French email server account to the eng version - (I hate the AZERTY keyboard though --back to one finger typing !!!!). Might be interesting for any Norwegian, Danish or Turkish users on here who have eng version of thunderbird set up with local email accounts (not google / gmail etc).

Even when I changed language to Icelandic - still got problems trying to set up an account. The icelandic text basically says special chars etc not allowed in server name as per the Eng post at the start of the thread. Manual setup wouldn't proceed either - left option: Stilla handvirkt -- and afram -- = Next.

I quite like thunderbird but this really is a showstopper -- so bye Bye Birdie !!!.

cheers
