Hi. I don't want to use Passkeys (yet). Every time I sign into a "large online retailer " a Windows Security popup appears saying "Let's set up a Passkey.....".
Is there a way to turn this off until/unless I'm ready to use Passkeys? Thanks

I know they're pushing these Passkeys but I'm wary of them as others have run into issues with them. There seems to be only a few websites other than MS and Google that use them so they're not widespread. I guess all I can do is keep swatting these boxes away.Thanks @antspants .

The penalty is if you use a pin to login, the pin login may be disabled.

You could possibly disable the option to use passkeys from within your browser. If so, you won’t need to worry about disabling Windows Hello.

What browser do you use?

Hi all. I tried disabling Windows Hello and as you suggested @antspants the login pin was also disabled so I re-enabled it. I used Edge first to sign in to the account but the same thing happens with Chrome. I don't want to lock myself out of the account so I'm wary about making too many changes for a popup I can just cancel. As far as I can see there are very few websites (at least here in the UK) that use passkeys so ATM it's not too troublesome. Seems to be a slow uptake by retailers. Thanks.

The issues seem to happen if you use several devices to sign in to an account that uses a Passkey. My son, after setting up a Passkey on his PC, found he couldn't sign in using his Android phone and could only sign in if the Passkey was deleted from the account. I know of several other instances of this happening. One device one Passkey seems OK.
