This tutorial will show you how to turn on or off caret browsing in Microsoft Edge for your account in Windows 10 and Windows 11.
Caret browsing allows you to navigate pages with a text cursor.
With caret browsing on, you can move the caret within a web page using the Up, Down, Left, and Right directional arrow keys and Home, Page Up, and Page Down buttons on your keyboard.
To select text, images, or other elements on the page, hold down Shift while moving the caret.
For example, to open the menu for an image on the page:
- Use the arrow keys to move the caret immediately before the image.
- Hold down Shift while moving the caret using the left or right arrow keys to select the image.
- Then press Shift+F10 to open the menu for the image.

1 Open Microsoft Edge.
2 Press the F7 key.
3 Click/tap on Turn on or Turn off (default) for what you want. (see screenshots below)

2 Click/tap on the Setting and more (Alt+F) 3 dots button, and click/tap on Settings. (see screenshot below)
3 Click/tap on Accesibility in the left pane. (see screenshot below step 4)
4 Under Keyboard, turn on or off (default) Navigate pages with a text cursor for what you want. (see screenshot below)
5 You can now close the Settings tab if you like.
