This tutorial will show you how to turn on or off download drivers and device software from Windows Update over metered connections in Windows 11.

A metered connection is an Internet connection that has a data limit associated with it. Cellular data connections are set as metered by default. Wi-Fi and Ethernet network connections can be set to metered but aren't by default. Some apps might work differently on a metered connection to help reduce your data usage. Also, some updates for Windows won't be installed automatically.

Device software (drivers, info, and apps) for new devices will not download from Windows Update on metered internet connections by default since data charges may apply.

I have my mobile connection as metered. Why this message/alert always is there? Every time I go for WiFi setup (I do it quite a lot), I have to see this message/alert. It's distracting. Is there any setting to close this permanently?
