With the Phone Link app on your PC linked to your Android phone, you can view and manage your Android device notifications on your PC.
You can turn on or off showing a badge on the Phone Link app's icon on the taskbar as part of managing your notifications. These badges are lightweight notifications that are contextual. For example, the badge can show a number for how many unread messages or missed calls you have from your Android phone.
This tutorial will show you how to turn on or off show badge on Phone Link icon on the taskbar for your account in Windows 10 and Windows 11.
If you turn off Show badges on taskbar apps in Windows 10/11 Settings, then a badge will not show on the Phone Link taskbar icon even if Show badge on taskbar is turned on in the Phone Link app settings.
EXAMPLE: Show badge on Phone Link taskbar icon turned on and off
Here's How:
1 Open the Phone Link app on your Windows 10/11 PC.
2 Click/tap on the Settings (gear) icon. (see screenshot below step 4)
3 Click/tap on Features in the middle Settings pane. (see screenshot below step 4)
4 Under Notifications in the right Features pane, turn On (default) or Off Show badge on taskbar for what you want. (see screenshot below)
If you turned off Display in the Phone Link app, the Show badge on taskbar setting will be grayed out.
5 Under Messages in the right Features pane, turn On (default) or Off Show badge on taskbar for what you want. (see screenshot below)
This will only affect showing a badge for messages.
If you turned off Allow this app to show text messages from my phone, the Show badge on taskbar setting will be grayed out.
6 Under Calls in the right Features pane, turn On (default) or Off Show badge on taskbar for what you want. (see screenshot below)
This will only affect showing a badge for calls.
If you turned off Allow this app to make and manage calls from my phone, the Show badge on taskbar setting will be grayed out.
That's it,
Shawn Brink
