Touch_keyboard_banner.png

This tutorial will show you how to turn on or off capitalize the first letter of each sentence while using the touch keyboard for your account in Windows 11.

Windows 11 includes a touch keyboard you can click/tap on to enter text. This can be handy if you have a PC with a touchscreen without a physical keyboard.

The touch keyboard will automatically capitalize the first letter of each sentence by default.

Capitalize the first letter of each sentence will not work while using the traditional keyboard layout option on the touch keyboard.

Contents

  • Option One: Turn On or Off Touch Keyboard Capitalize First Letter of Each Sentence in Settings
  • Option Two: Turn On or Off Touch Keyboard Capitalize First Letter of Each Sentence using REG file

what about if this does not help/work? as you can see, no capitals in my txt.
I can see both "capitalize..." selected in typing and no "1" in reg edit.
does not work with detachable keyboard either.

Hello X12, and welcome to Eleven Forum. :-)

This will only work for the Touch Keyboard.

When turned on, it will usually have all letters capitalized each time you start a new sentence by clicking on Enter on the Touch Keyboard.

If the "EnableAutoShiftEngage" DWORD value shows "0", it's turned off. Does changing this in Settings in option 1 work for you?

Hi Brink.
That is what I tried to say with that sentence....
It is selected in "typing" and "1" visible in regedit.
Turned it to "0" in regedit... reboot... no change... back to "1"...no change.

Odd. Changing the registry DWORD should get applied immediately. Restart not required.

Does changing this using option 1 work for you?

This is the reason, I'm telling it here... It does not work at all.
